To paint vampire teeth you will need the following colors. If you only have white face paint and fake blood or lipstick you can also make it work.
Red Face Paint - Black Face Paint - White Face Paint
Small Round Brush
Above and below you can see the steps I took to paint simple vampire teeth.
Step 1 - I used Fusion White Face Paint for the curved pointy Fangs on the outer corners of the bottom lip. Try to make them look big enough to notice but not so big that they look like they are pizza slices or for a saber tooth tiger.
Step 2 - I edged the fangs with red and then mixed a little black into the red to make a darker shade to line them with more contrast.
Step 3 - I made very small blood drops with a round brush,
Step 4 - For the last image I added a hit of grey shadow by mixing the black with white, and I outlined them with a little more black to make them stand out even more. If you do want to outline in black make sure the person you are painting is VERY still and your brush work is VERY thin.
Step 5 - I splattered blood on my face with a wet red paint brush, splattering the most around the mouth and some near my eyes.
I splotched shades of red on my lips to make them look bloody and bruisy.
The teeth were the last step to this vampire design. Here are the steps for the base makeup shading and wrinkles.
For this look I used Starblend White for the base and Ben Nye Rainbow Powder Studio Palette for the eye shadow and shading. I also used Starblend Black for some darker shading on the jaw line but I could have used the black in the Ben Nye palette as well.
Step 1 - I used a soft droplet sponge and a Royal Complexion Brush to apply the dry Starblend White to my face. I made sure to put some lotion on my skin before adding the Starblends. The lotion acts as a primer for the powders to stick better to. You can also use white face paint that activates with water, but it will look a lot more opaque and less ghostly. I also like how the eye shadows blend in to the powder base more than the face paint base.
Step 2 - I added dark shadows around the eyes with Ben Nye Passion Purple and the teals and blues in the Ben Nye Rainbow Powder Studio Palette. The trick is to add the dark colors and then blend them in with the white using a white smoothie or fluffy brush. I like to use the Bolt Blooming Brush for adding shadows around the eyes, temples, cheek hallows, nose and smile lines.
Besides makeup there are a tooth camps, dentures and form fitting inserts that you can use to have more realistic vampire teeth. We carry Blood Lust Dental Distortions, which are amazing Vampire teeth that are used on Hollywood sets.
NoName_13 created this cool image of a vampire ready to bite! he dark eye makeup and red lips were all it took. We like their digital addition of veins coming from the neck onto the face.
Image by Three-shots from Pixabay used eye liner, red contacts, fake fangs and red lips to transform this vampire that looks like she was caught coming out of the shower.
VIKA GLITTER created this amazing image of a vampire getting ready to dine on a heart! Yikes! If you want to look like vampire and are not sure what to wear besides normal clothes like in Twilight, look into corsets, capes, and strange jewelry to give you a dark gothic look.
Claudia Flores is a fabulous face painter in Arizona. She painted this bright pink kitty and gave it a wild twist with her sharp almost flame like line work. Don't forget the fangs if you want to make your cat makeup look a little more fierce. I also wanted to mention how much I liked the purple tips on the ears! This is a great way to add more character to your cat face paint.
This fun pink can has some twirls and tear drops on the face to add a whimsical style. The little dots by the inner eyes are a cute way to add details to a cat face. I added a little blue on the black nose to soften it up!
Eva Balogh painted this soft pink kitten face paint with a fun blue bow!
The water color technique can be used with face paint. Learn how to paint watercolor style cats, tigers and cheetahs below!
For this simple cat face makeup I used the watercolor effect for the center of the face, lightly applying thinned out face paint in a variety of colors and letting them softly blend into each other. I also added splotches and drips of color. It is an artsy way to face paint, and adults will be sure to love it!
This water color cat has some cheetah spots with blue centers. Be careful with what colors you put over the eyes and mouth so that they still pop and don't look dark and bruisy. If you need to, sponge a little wet white over the eye area to soften the other colors on the upper lid if you went to dark. Note how the base isn't exactly symmetrical, this creates a more organic natural water color makeup look.
STEP BY STEP WATER COLOR CAT FACE PAINTING VIDEO
This is another example of a water color style cat with darker colors and lots of drips! You can see a tutorial on how to paint this cat below using professional grade face paint. This water based makeup is perfect for the water color look.
This basic tiger face has bold stripes and markings around the eye! The tiny beard under the bottom lip looks great with a little bit of shaggy line work. Note the dots on the muzzle for the whiskers going from large to small and all angling in but not going all the way over the top lip. This keeps the cat muzzle in the face painting design clean.
This tiger has a really a bold look with the darker red blended into the orange and those lines up the side of the nose. Every stripe is wiggly and goes from thin to thick and the black eye liner makes it more fierce. I painted the tiger above and the one below, trying to make sure that they looked scary enough for their customers, though I have to say, if you have a good smile it is hard to look scary!

Watch the demo below to see a tiger face paint design on my son. My daughter is in the main image for some reason on the youtube video. In the video I made one mistake in my eyes, which was accidentally joining the outer stripes on the forehead. For the best look they shouldn't touch where they angle on the bridge of the nose. Avoid painting the stripes on the nose or near the lower sides of the nose.
Half face tigers can save time when you have a long line. The burgundy and orange color pattern flows out into the hair line along with the white muzzle and beard and nostril. This, combined with the flow of the black stripes makes a huge impact.
This purple Cheetah has the long lines running from the eyes to the muzzle and lots of black spots highlighted with blue dots. Notice hoe the large spots are made out of groups of smaller dots and u shapes? I like to make the spots larger on the outer edges and make them smaller and they come into the center of the face. Keep a little space free of dots so that your eyes can settle easier on the design and as to not distort the face too much.
I painted this design for you to be inspired. I used some bolt brushes and the Diamond FX Wild Cheetah cake. Below you will see a 3 minute version and a 30 minute version of the Cheetah can painted on a face. The more time you take the more fur texture you can add and make sure things are symmetrical and neat.
This more realistic cheetah has a lot of fine whiskers, a shaded muzzle and fine hair strokes on the nose painted with a rake brush. I outlined the eyes in black and then again in white. The tip of the nose is a light pink, just like a real cheetah. (Photographer - Steve Brown)
This cute Cheetah cheek art design was done by Milena using her cute cub stencil. If you struggle with little cheek art faces, this one will be very helpful!

Linnea painted this cute lion using a Little Dream Color Cake by Superstar called Little Safari. The big round ears and mane help create the lion look. If you want to do a cub just paint a little bang versus a full mane.

BLUE GREEN TIGER FACE PAINT VIDEO TUTORIAL
I love this fluffy white cat by Susy Amaro for a lot of reasons! She used her EZ Strokes cakes in Unicorn and Flamingo to do fast edging with a brush around a white sponged base, and the Flamingo for the ears, nose and lips...and a little blush!
This face painting cat design looks complicated, but with some practice you could easily do it on a child. Note the thick line work on the outer size of the muzzle and how it creates dimension and contrast with the lighter fluffy fringe.
The dark line work around the eyes also draws a lot of attention to the child's eyes, and the dark lines in the ears also help create a well balanced design with a little dark line work from top to bottom of the face.
The thin wispy mustache hairs and eye brow hairs add more detail and realism to this cute kitty face! Use a number one round or liner brush to create these thin lines.

Sophia Vega painted this super creative and colorful Butterfly Cat with Rainbow and Roses.
Gaby Renteria created this cute Valentine's Day Kitten with a cute bow and heart nose and lip highlight. The edges of this cat face painting design were done with pink and red 1 stroke, but you could just base the face in white and pink and then edge it with red on a flat brush creating zig zag fringe.
Gaby Renteria used cute stencils to filling the the colored spots of her pink cat, and added hearts above the eyes and a little one on the nose and lip to make this a Valentines day face painting design. This cat makeup is perfect for kids and adults.
Looking for face painting ideas for the holidays? Paint your cat face in blues and white or add some snowflakes, holly or a Santa Hat to add a Christmas or winter twist!
The cat above uses soft Fusion colors and a TAP Stencil for texture. The cool colors give it a snowy feel.
What happens when you try to use almost every color in the rainbow? Do you want a bright colorful cat to grab attention and spread happiness?! Below are a lot of colorful kittens with fantastic face paint colors. I hope that you like these face painting ideas for your next gig!
This tropical color was really fun to paint. I sponged on each color one my one and flowed them into the center of the face. When sponging on colors make sure to not blend any together that will make a new color that you are not hoping for. Greens and oranges can make brown etc. I went heavy on the eye liner for this wild cat face paint look...and I really didn't want to wash it off at the end of the night. Oh, note on my forehead how I added fine lines on the stripes to give a more furry effect!
I edged the face with rainbow cakes and added very thin dark purple line work around those strokes to stylize the strokes. This more sheer look is a little more subtle and might be a good choice for someone that doesn't want a lot of make up on for their cat look.
I love love love green, yellow and blue cats! I don't know why I have such an affinity to them, but I do! I was practicing an asymmetrical tiger above with the Diamond FX Large Dragon Fly Rainbow Cake
Claudia Flores painted this super cute blue and green cat and accented it with her wild line work, tear drops and a curly bang! She also added a stencil pattern and glitter to take it to another level. If you like the stencil work, she used TAP Stencil Ornate Sun.
My mother always told me that sometimes simple is better. I tried to come up with a cat face painting design that was very crisp and clean and came up with this bold cat face.
I first sponged on lime green, then teal and then white. I outlined the face in a brush loaded with purple and magenta and really accented the high cheeks with a loop on each side of the muzzle.
I painted the nose magenta, the lip light blue with glitter and did a blue outline around the eyes for a subtle yet kind of aquatic look. Adding tiny white highlights on the nose and the inner edges of the line work made everything POP!
This Green and Blue cat was done with Fusion split cake 1 strokes. I then went over them with black line work and white dots and whiskers.
Here are two playful cats with whimsical features! Both are painted with pearl paints and have a lot of flow.
Milena created super cute cat stencils for face painters! She has a few different heads, and you get to paint the body how ever you want. This yellow kitty cat stencil is so adorable, I just can't take it!
This is her little tiger cub stencil! Milena outlined it in teal to really make it pop!
This enchanting cat by Milena Potekhina has such a pretty cool toned base with gems and stenciling using her Milena crown stencil 051. She edged the ears with a black and purple split cakes like this TAG Black Iris 1 Stroke.
Sometimes keeping the design really simple and putting all the focus on the child's eyes and smile will be enough to create a really pretty cat face. This design has a very smooth well blended base with light colors around the eyes and crisp clean outer line work. The black lips are painted with just a curved triangle on the top lip and a large lower lip to accent the smile going up. When you paint the whole top lip a dark color you care accenting a downward turn of the mouth, so I usually put very little paint on the top lip. I used Fusion Orange Zest and FUSION Body Art Bright Yellow for the base.
This cat face paint design also follows the ideas above with smooth blending and fine clear line work. I added glitter to the face to add a little detail and sparkle. I love the FUSION GLITTER PALETTE for this. All of the colors are matte Fusion Colors.
Painting a black cat can seem like a big challenge for a face painter when they get the request for the first time. I recommend starting with white around the eyes and mouth and the bridge of the nose and then blend black in from the out side of the face into the middle. This way the face won't look flat, the lighter color in the middle will give the design some dimension. You can also paint your black cat with silver muzzle and eyes if you don't want to use white. This will give it a fancy look. Black Panther can have silver or blue highlights to add dimension.
Constance Johnson-Holmes Amazing Tabby Cat / Tiger
There are many ways that you can paint a cat nose. Generally cats have very small noses that connect to a crease that goes down to the upper lip. The most basic technique is to paint a little triangle with the point pointing down, or a little heart. I like to paint the bottom part of the nose and make sure that the paint stays low on the bulb area of the nose. The bigger the nose the more it might look like a wolfe or puppy.
Here is a very basic step by step for a beginner cat using a one stroke cake. This makes the processes faster and creates smooth blending of the colors.
Step 1 - Load your sponge with white face paint and dab over the muzzle, nose and tops of the eye area, like two triangles above each eye. Angle them out a little to the sides of the face.
Step 2 - Load a large flat brush with a few colors from your 1 stroke cake and outline the white triangles, make an arch on the forehead between the ears, and underline the eyes. Keep the dark color on the outside of the face and the lighter color facing in towards the eyes.
Step 3 - This is an optional step where you lightly sponge yellow on top of the nose area.
Step 4 - Outline the muzzle and paint the bottom tip of the nose. Try to make your muzzle line very thin or paint them thick on the top lip and then thin out as you sweep them up around the white and come to a point on each side of the nose.
Step 5 - Paint some thin to thick stripes on the cheeks and forehead, having them radiate around the face and angle into the nose or eyes. Outline the outside of the mask alternating from thin to thick lines to scruffy hair if you want to. Outline the eyes. A small line above each eye that flicks out towards the side of the face will give the cat eye look.
Step 6 - Finish the ears with a line and shag around the white triangles where the white and orange meet. Try your best to make them symmetrical. To finish things off add a red lip outlined in black and some lines and round dots on the muzzle just as I did in the picture below. If you wanted the face to have more coverage you could flip the brush over the cheeks and add a second layer, this time having the light color face out to create a light fur shag look around the face.
Painting children's faces isn't always easy since many of them tend to wiggle, look down at their lap, talk, move their arms around and squish up their face. Getting your child to relax before painting them is very important. Yelling at them to hold still will only make them more nervous and could lead to them crying or backing out. We want this to be the best experience possible for a child, so often offering a small reward, like a yummy snack helps, and showing them the mirror periodically to keep them patient during the process also helps. You don't want them to hold the mirror or it will get in the way while you paint.
Make sure that you are at a height where you can see there face easily. Do not push their head back with your hand on top of their head so that you can see their face. This hurts the neck a lot, if you don't believe me ask someone to do it to you. If you need their face to tilt up so that you can see it better, gently tilt up their face with your finger under their chin, or find a lower chair for your self or a higher chair for them to sit in.
Playing relaxing music and having a pillow that they can rest their head back on helps me a lot when I need to paint my kids. I play pan flute music that has no lyrics for them to sing along to, because that will make it hard to paint a singing kid.
Another tip is to have everything ready before you start painting them, and have a wet soapy paper towel or rag available to wipe off any mistakes. Make sure to wipe off the soap from their skin with a wet towel and pat it dry before continuing to paint.
Analyze the Child's face and map out the design very lightly in thin white face paint. This will help with symmetry if you take a moment to put the muzzle lines, ears and sides of the face. If stand back and look and see that some things are lopsided you can fix it with the white and then going in for the bold colors.
Make sure that you have enough water and paint mixed together so that the paint easily comes off the sponge onto the child's face. You don't want to bother the child by having to press hard to get the paint out of the sponge. If it starts to run out of paint just reapply more paint, you can add more water by dipping the tip of the sponge or brush quickly into the water cup and then adding more paint.
Some kids do not like a large wet brush or sponge filled with paint on their face. Kids with sensory issues may not like face painting for this reason, so it is good to have a back up plan with a set of powders for your base. I use Starblends and Mehron Intense Powders and Ben Nye Lumiere and Rainbow Palette for powder based face painting. You can apply them with smoothie blenders, which are like huge eye shadow applicators.
Use a small round brush ( #3 or #4) to paint the muzzle, nose, and stripes. See more information below about how to paint tiger stripes.
You can add ears to the cat face on the forehead, and paint shaggy fur to edge the design by making long and short v strokes around the edges of the base paint. Have the v's flow in the same angle for a nice look. They will usually point downward on the cheeks with a little curve to them.
Look at images of tigers and tabby cats for ideas on how these stripes flow around the faces of these real felines. Use those just for inspiration because the human face is shaped a little differently and you might need to simplify and adapt, or even stylize the stripes to give them a different feel.
Hello Kitty has been a face painting staple design for decades. Below you will see a super speedy 1 minute version of the design. Filling the whole upper face in with white will take it up a notch.
If you need to paint a cat face for Halloween or any other event, choosing safe face paint is the most important step you can make. I am linking a video that we made all about face paint safety for you to watch. At Jest Paint we sell only high quality face paints that have been tested and used for years and years in our industry for use on the skin.
We sell pearl, matte, and neon colors in a variety of brands and bases. You will notice a neon warning on any product that we sell, since the neon pigments have not been tested by the US FDA for use in cosmetics, but they have been tested by independent labs according to the manufacturers. We hope that the FDA will make it a priority to test them soon. You can learn more about neon face paint by visiting this blog post All about Neon /UV "Face" Paint Regulations
Well, painting fast might mean a floppy ear or sidewise smile, so I recommend allotting at least 3 - 5 minutes to paint a fast but nice tiger face on a kid. The demo below shows you how fast you can go if you were pressed for time. Just some cute ears, nose and muzzle is perfect for little ones, or even adults. Use 1 stroke split cakes to add multiple shades at once on the face and save even more time! Painting fast tiger face paint designs is great for a play, at a zoo, or for a quick Halloween look. Make sure that the child is comfortable and that you can see their face easily from all angles to make the job go by faster.
Using bold contrasting colors to create a fast cat face paint that pops! I like to mix warm and cool colors on the face, so the eye areas might be cool while the forehead and cheeks are warm.
Check out this step by step video tutorial below to see how I painted a cat face in a little over a minute on my daughter. I would have loved to have more time to tie everything in together in the center of the face and add more stripes like the step by step above, but this gives you the gist on how to paint a fast cat face.

Notice how the shading in the ears with tiny hairs and super fine whiskers make a big difference.

What Kind of Paint do You Use For Face Painting?
We always use makeup-grade face painting products for face painting. This is the safest way to go. Don't follow DIY face paint recipes or use cheap Halloween makeup from big box stores because you can never be 100% sure of how the skin will react. Established brands that have been around for years are a much safer option and they will give you a much better look as well. We strongly recommend Fusion Body Art Face Paints as they are vegan, cruelty-free, have no parabens, perfume, gluten, or nuts and they provide amazing coverage and vibrant colors.
What is Needed for Face Painting?
Luckily, not a lot is needed for face painting, just a face painting palette, some brushes, sponges, and water! That is it. You can get all of these supplies at JestPaint.com for really good prices:
Face Painting Palette
Face Painting Brushes
Face Painting Sponges
What Can I Use Instead of White Face Paint?
You can always use some white cream-based makeup or white pressed powders depending on what look you are trying to get. If you want to paint details over your base color, then we suggest you use a base that is water activated or a pressed powder. Grease or oil-based makeup is hard to work with. Don't ever go for DIY products as those are not designed for the skin, will crack, and will have a terrible look.
How Do You Make HomeMade Face Paint?
There are a lot of websites out there promoting different homemade recipes for face paint. You have to keep a few things in mind when attempting to follow these recipes:
1 - Most of them use toothpaste or cornstarch as a base. Both of these products are not designed for the skin, and they will crack as soon as they dry. Toothpaste has a lot of abrasive chemicals that can be very harsh on the skin, so stay away from it.
2 - They all suggest you use food coloring to add color to your base. Food coloring is not always makeup grade, it can stain the skin badly, and if used in concentrations above what is recommended it can cause skin allergies.
3 - It is always safer to buy makeup-grade face paints, you will have a much easier time working with them, you won't have to worry about the safety of the ingredients, and the overall look will be much better.
What Do Professional Face Painters Use?
Simple! Professional face painters use professional-grade face paints. These are cosmetic-grade products from well-established brands that provide you with a professional finished look, safety, and quality. All of the face paints we offer at JestPaint.com are professional grade. You can see all of our professional face paint brands on our website.
How Do You face Paint?
Face Painting is easy if you are going for a simple look. If you want to achieve a more complicated professional design you will need a lot more practice, or you can always hire a professional face painter. You can learn all about face painting on our How To Face Paint Blog.
Can I Use Watercolor Paint On My Face?
No, watercolors are not designed to be used on the skin. Not only are the ingredients not intended for the skin, exposing you to potential skin reactions and chemical burns, but also they will not provide you with a good finished look as watercolors are very transparent and their base is not intended to cover skin.
How Do You Apply Face Paint Smoothly?
The best way to apply face paint smoothly is using a face paint sponge. Face Painting sponges allow you to cover the skin with face paint easily. Just make sure to use professional face paints and the right amount of water to activate your face paints. You can watch this YouTube tutorial on how to apply a face paint base with a sponge.
What Is The Best White Face Paint?
Each face painter has their own personal choice, sometimes there are different answers to what the best white face paint is depending on the intended use: linework, base coat, long-lasting, waterproof, etc. Our overall choice is Fusion Body Art Pro Paraffin White, but you can get a more in-depth answer by reading our Best White Face Paint blog.
What Are The Most Popular Face Paint Designs?
The most popular face paint ideas are the ones included in this blog post, meaning: Mermaid, Puppy, Unicorn, Spiderman, Zombie, Cat, Tiger, Shark, Princess, Frozen Princess, Clown, Skull, Sugar Skull, Pirate, Dragon, Monster, Rainbow, Butterfly, Dinosaur, Hello Kitty and Bunny.

]]>Before you unleash your inner Grim Reaper, we need to grab your basic face painting supplies which you can get at our Halloween Shop. Here's what you'll need:
High-Quality Face Paints: Invest in face paints that are safe for your skin, this is a VERY important step. Face Paints sold at pop up or seasonal stores, big box stores and direct from China apps or websites tend to not be FDA compliant, and be filled with unsafe ingredients that can permanently damage your skin. So, do yourself a favor and buy supplies from a professional face paint store, the quality is much higher, they can help you choose the right products if you ask before you buy, and your skin with be protected. You'll need white, black, and gray shades of water activated face paints like Fusion Body Art, Superstar, Diamond FX or TAG.
[product:fusion-body-art-sampler-face-painting-palette]
Brushes and Sponges: A variety of brushes and sponges in different sizes will be your mystical tools. As a suggestion, grab some half round (half moon) shaped sponges, at least one per color, and a round #3 or #4 brush.
Setting Spray: To ensure your masterpiece stays put throughout the night. We strongly recommend Ben Nye Final Seal, unless you choose to do your design with water resistant face paints like ProAiir, but those require a completely different technique.
[product:ben-nye-makeup-sealer-final-seal-spray-1-fl-oz-29ml-bn107]
Reference Image: Google 'Grim Reaper' to get some visual inspiration before you start. Here are some images as a reference that we found.

Step 1: Begin with a clean, dry face. Best thing is to simply clean your face with a gentle soap and warm water, do not add moisturizer or any other lotions as it can make it harder for the face paint to adhere to your skin.
Step 2: Using a face paint sponge (like the one linked before), apply the white face paint evenly all over your face and neck. This serves as the spectral canvas for your Grim Reaper transformation.
Your Grim Reaper look wouldn't be complete without those haunting eyes. Here's how to create them:
Step 1: Dip a fine brush (round #3 or #4) into your black face paint and outline your eye sockets. Make sure they're symmetrical, unless you want to look like the Grim Reaper after a particularly bad day.
Step 2: Fill in the eye sockets with black paint using your sponge. Leave a small, eerie white circle in the center for that soul-piercing effect.
Step 3: Use gray face paint to add shading around the eye sockets, giving them depth and mystery.
The Grim Reaper is famous for that wicked, skeletal grin. Let's craft it:
Step 1: With your black face paint and a fine brush, draw a curved line from one side of your face to the other, just below your cheekbones. Think of it as the creepiest smile in town.
Step 2: Extend lines from the ends of your smile to your ears, forming a sinister jawbone effect.
Step 3: Fill in the space between the jawbones with black face paint. Leave a small gap at the bottom for that classic skeletal appearance.
No Grim Reaper is complete without the iconic hooded cloak. Here's how to conjure it:
Step 1: Paint your entire neck and shoulders black to mimic the shadowy depths of the Reaper's cloak.
Step 2: Use gray face paint to add shadows and depth to the cloak, especially around your shoulders and neckline. This gives it that supernatural, billowing effect. And of course, try and find a black fabric to go over your head and body and help with the illusion.
Step 1: For that extra dose of eerie realism, use your fine brush to add details like cracks and wrinkles to your skull. After all, even Grim Reapers age (in a ghostly sort of way).
Step 2: Lightly spritz your face with makeup setting spray to ensure your otherworldly masterpiece stays put all night long, no matter how many souls you decide to reap.
Congratulations, you've successfully transformed yourself into the Grim Reaper! With your newfound look, you're poised to haunt Halloween parties, scare trick-or-treaters, and take the most spine-tingling selfies imaginable. This Grim Reaper face paint is your key to becoming the life (or death) of the Halloween party.
Remember, practice makes perfect. Don't hesitate to experiment and add your unique twists to this timeless spooky look. So go forth, embrace your inner Reaper, and make this Halloween an unforgettable night of ghostly fun. Happy haunting, and may your Halloween be a spectral sensation!

]]>Not only do we have a great price on animal balloons but we also offer the highest quality brand, Qualatex, and the fastest shipping!
At Jest Paint, you will not only find the traditional 260 balloons but also round balloons with faces, sticky dots, high-quality pumps, hearts, pearl and metallic balloons, assortment bags, and more!
Open our Balloon Collection page to see our entire range of professional-grade animal balloons and have fun shopping for your next gig or event.
Professional balloon twisters and clowns use all sorts of balloons to make their creations but the most common ones are those called 260s, which are 2 inches in diameter and 60 inches long when inflated, hence the name 260.
[product:qualatex-balloons-260q-popular-assortment-100-ct-7075-1]
These balloons are made of natural latex, a natural form of rubber that is biodegradable.
Creating little animal balloons is fairly easy once you have practiced enough. Keep in mind that it will be a lot easier if you use high-quality fresh balloons like Qualatex. If the balloons are too old they might break and pop easily. So, although getting a great bargain on balloons might feel like a win, make sure that you are getting a well-known brand and that they are fresh. Some stores that move little inventory might have balloons on their shelves that are several years old, stay away from that!
You start by using a balloon pump to inflate your balloon except for the last 2-3 inches (depending on how many twists you will need, the more twists the more of an uninflated tale you need to leave) and tie a knot.
Then, follow the instructions to create whatever shape you are looking to make. You should start with something easy like a sword that only requires one twist. Then you can move on to the simple flower or balloon dog.
See below the steps to create a balloon sword:
Here are the steps to make an animal balloon dog:
As mentioned before, there are many kinds of balloons that can be used for twisting animal balloons, including many round shapes, bee bodies, link balloons, Mylar balloons, thicker long balloons and more!
See some links and images below for examples.

Twisters use hundreds of tools to make their creations come to life but beginner twisters only need a few to get started, the most important being a balloon pump.
But, you can also get a black marker, stickers, sticky dots, a balloon apron, a balloon cutter, etc.
We have some of those basic tools for sale on our bargain balloons page at Jest Paint.
Let us know if you would like to see any other animal balloon products for sale at Jest Paint, simply send us an email with the product name and a link to it so we can source it and add it to our ever-growing bargain balloon shop for animal balloons and professional twisters.
]]>Ben Nye Final Seal is one of the best makeup sealers in the beauty makeup, special fx, and face painting industry.
Ben Nye Final Seal has been around for decades and it is loved by professionals because of how easy it is to apply and its long-lasting high quality durability under the most extreme conditions.
Ben Nye's Final Seal's main ingredient is alcohol which is great to seal all types of makeup and prevent it from smudging or running due to friction or sweat. It also helps your makeup water resistant. Some claim that it is to make it waterproof but our experience shows that when exposed to water for several minutes it no longer holds, but it will hold if your makeup is just slightly exposed to water.
Ben Nye Final Seal is a great makeup sealer but as with any product, it has its pros and cons. Let's review them:
Ben Nye Final Seal Pros
Ben Nye Final Seal Cons
One of the great advantages of Ben Nye Final Seal is how easy it is to use. Simply apply the makeup to the skin, make sure it is fully set or dry, and then apply a fine even mist over all of the makeup areas from a 12" distance so that no big drops fall over your makeup. Highly recommend
You can use it both under and over paints and powders. I will do final sealer then add glitter here in the dry Phoenix weather. It stays tacky for just a few minutes but paints dry as I paint most days.
Love the minty smell. Most kids inform me it smells like toothpaste.Patti Ward Verified Buyer

I love this product! I tried it for the 1st time last summer, and it worked wonderfully - even in summer heat! I highly recommend it.
The industry has many options available if you are looking for an alternative to Ben Nye Final Seal. Mehron offers its Barrier Spray and its Mixing Liquid, while ProAiir has a product called ProLong, and European Body Art has one called ProSeal and Graftobian offers its Setting Spray. There is also one by Green Marble.
All of them are good products but in general Ben Nye Final Seal appears to be the most popular one based on sales and online reviews.
]]>1. First of all, we think you should go for Neon Rainbow, it is exquisite, super vibrant, and a top seller within our Silly Farm face paints range.
Now let's look into Silly Farm's FAB Shimmer colors. If you have not tried them yet, you are missing out! FAB by Superstar is some of the most unique, shimmery, and iridescent colors on the market. It is REALLY hard to choose just a few (so get them all!) but here are a few must-have Silly Farm face paint colors:
12. Let's start with FAB by Superstar | Face Paint - Pearl Baby Pink Shimmer, a beautifully soft and gentle baby pink shimmer that is just ideal for painting fairies or adding as a background to floral designs.
Now that we have gone over Silly Farm face paints let's go over their glitter! The former owner of Silly Farm created Mama Clown, and they have a beautiful collection of fine loose glitters to choose from.
14. One of our favorite Silly Farm glitters is Mama Clown's Famous Glitter Face Paint Glitter Poof- Iridescent White Fairy Dust. This is such a versatile glitter since it goes well with any color of face paint as it is very holographic and translucent, letting the color beneath the glitter show.
Silly Farm also makes some amazing tools of the trade, like brushes, sponges, and gems. Their PaintPal line or brushes is versatile and covers a long range of needs with all of their different brush shapes.
16. Take, for example, this awesome collection, the Paint Pal | Face Painting Brush - Luxe Swirl Collection. It includes three liner/round brushes that are perfect for every occasion. You can make large details, small details, swirls, and twirls. These brushes from Silly Farm are great and come in a beautiful protecting tube to keep them in great shape for years to come.
If you have not tried Silly Farm's face painting sponges, you are missing out, big time! These sponges are divine! They have a soft yet firm feeling, they come in a beautiful light blue color, and they can be washed and re-used many, many, many times!
20. See, for example, one of our favorite ones, the Silly Farm Paint Pal Face Painting Sponges - PETAL sponges. These little petal-shaped sponges are perfect to go over the eye, to use as stamps to create little wings or to lay down any base color simply.
This concludes our review of the top 20 Silly Farm face paints and tools available at Jest Paint. We hope that you have enjoyed reading our reviews, and please don't forget to leave a comment below with your top pics!
]]>Face painting kits are ideal for creating a year-round fun activity, and face painting for kids and adults continues to be a massive trend around the world, with festivals, carnivals, weddings, birthday parties, and more relying on face painting as a form of entertainment. And you don't need to let the fun end there; you can bring the fun home by purchasing your own face painting kit and enjoy watching little kids (and adults!) light up and turn into their favorite character or getting that tattoo they always wanted (in a temporary form, of course!).
Getting face painted is no small thing for anyone. Sometimes little kids have waited for months to get their faces painted as their most beloved characters or the most recent cartoon to be released on the big screen. Some adults have never experienced the art of face paint before, and their first time becomes a truly magical moment.
Do you need help with your face painting skills? Read our FREE Face Painting Guide to learn how to face paint and make the most out of your face painting kits.
Now that social distancing is becoming less common, and we can gather and celebrate again, we can enjoy the art of face paint and walk around like a crazy monkey with our faces painted, glitter tattoos, crazy hair, and even waterproof face paint for those crazy hot summer days.
We handpicked five face painting kits that we consider to be the best of the best within their category. Some are small and inexpensive, enough to get you started with good quality face paints. Some are more expensive and ready to turn you into a professional full-time face painter! Most kits come with their own brushes, and some have glitter, sponges, stencils, and more. Most importantly, you won't find cheap Amazon-style face painting kits here—only professional-grade products that you will see at amusement parks and popular carnivals around the country.
That is a critical distinction between what many popular sites list as the best face painting kits and what we list. If you want professional-grade products, hypoallergenic, makeup grade, designed with the highest quality ingredients, you won't find those at costume stores or big online retailers. These face painting kits are only found at professional face paint stores. We are talking about face paint that goes on little kids' faces, and we should not just worry about the price; quality and safety should come first. When you buy from a professional store, you know that you will receive dedicated service from professional face painters to assist you along the way.
If you are looking for a small face painting kit that is compact yet packed with rainbows, this is the one! We designed this kit for those who want to learn how to face paint one-stroke face painting designs while we wait out the "Stay at Home" orders worldwide. Save money when you buy this fantastic kit for a limited time only! There are thousands of videos to watch on YouTube to learn the one-stroke technique, and it is a perfect activity for creative kids and adults who want to try something new. Paint roses, snakes, dragons, fish, flames, kittens, puppies, horses, dolphins, sharks, butterflies, unicorns, sports, and video game designs. The possibilities are endless!
This palette is a great way to try out the Fusion Body Art line of face paints. This face painting palette contains ten vibrant colors and a black and white cake that are good for a wide variety of designs for boys and girls and makes a great face painting travel kit or a valuable addition to your face paint set up. I love this kit because it truly has the most basic colors that every face painter needs all in one palette! It is excellent as a travel kit, a walk-around kit, a fundraising kit, a gift for a new face painter or a kid, or just the perfect way to test the Fusion Body Art brand.
Superstars' soft creamy colors are easy to use. They are perfect for professional face painters and makeup artists but are also ideal for new artists. Superstar Face and body makeup can be applied with a wet makeup brush or sponge. Moisten your face painting tool with water and load up the paint until you get a nice opaque consistency. Apply the paint to the face or body using smooth brush strokes or patting your sponge until you get a bold opaque coverage. The best way to remove Superstar paints is with a warm soapy sponge or cloth. Using soap first will help break down the paint before it spreads with water. You can also use a makeup remover to take off this face paint. If you are looking for Vegan face paint that is perfume free and hypoallergenic, you will love Superstar!
Mehron created a nice little Paradise face painting kit to let you get a taste of the face painting world or to give as a gift to the budding artists in your life. You can mix lighter shades of colors by adding white to the darker colors in the palette. Each color has seven grams of paint. We added a blue to this kit to complete the rainbow. The Premium Makeup Kit is perfect for birthday parties, school fundraisers, and Halloween makeup.
Fusion face paints are water-activated. All you have to do is dip your sponge or brush in clean water and wipe your tool against the cake of paint until you can see that you have the paint well loaded. Make sure that you don't have too much water on your sponge or brush, or it will drip, and make sure that your sponge or brush isn't too dry or it will not go onto the skin. If you need to add more water to your tool, just dip the tip into the water. Make sure to apply your face paints onto clean, dry skin. Once it is on, Fusion face paints will dry quickly and will be smudge-proof. Fusion paints are easy to wash off too! Just use a cloth or sponge loaded with skin-safe soap and rub the soap into the face paint until it is all loosened from the skin. Wipe the paint off gently and then rinse off with water. You can use makeup remover or an oil-based product to remove face paint that is near the eyes or stubborn to get off.

]]>Pennywise the Dancing Clown is going to be one of the top looks for this Halloween season! You don't have to have the strong facial features as Bill Skarsgård did in the 2017 version of the movie to pull off possibly the creepiest Halloween look in history. Through the magic of makeup you can transform yourself or somebody else into this terrifying clown!
[product:scary-clown-makeup-face-paint-kit]IT is not an actual clown, but Pennywise is one of his illusions from the book by Stephen King. IT appears as Pennywise so often in the book that he is the main character in the 1990 mini series and the 2017 movie. The image of Pennywise the Dancing Clown with a red balloon provides you with a perfect prop to take along when you pull off this look. You can paint your own hair, wear a wig, or wear a rubber cap with the wig attached to give you the swollen head look that he/she/it is famous for. The gender of Pennywise is debatable, and artists have been playing with versions that fit anyone's taste!
Amazing Penny Wise Makeup and Painted Neck Ruffle by Tyra Jones
Makeup artists from around the world have submitted pictures of their Pennywise makeovers for this blog post. Scroll down to see their takes on Pennywise and learn some tips and tricks to do your own amazing look!
Sara Hicks' beautiful take on Pennywise
I recommend using eye shadow or face painting powders for shading the face and eyes. You can get away with blending the cream based or dry blending the water activated makeup if you have had some practice, but the powders easily give it a special distressed look if done right. Check out the image below by Kelly de Jonghe to see what I mean. The shading on the forehead, around the mouth and around the eyes really crank up the creepy factor!
Makeup by Kelly de Jonghe of Twinkel's Face Paint
My favorite solid white water activated face paint for the base is Fusion Pro Parafin White. It is the most intense white face paint on the market. If you want a very light white base, look into Mehron Starblend White. You can also use Starblends wet for a more opaque look and it is very durable to sweat. Fusion Strong Black is great for the eyes and eye brows, and Superstar Carmine Red is perfect for the mouth and nose.
[product:fusion-body-art-face-paint-pro-paraffin-white-32gr]
For a cream makeup check out Ben Nye Clown White for a smooth base. You can use a black makeup pencil or black creme paint applied with a thin brush for the details. We also have Ben Nye Jumbo Red Creme Crayons that you can use for the mouth and nose, or check out this Ben Nye Creme Makeup Palette with all of the colors you will need. Just don't forget the setting powder, or it will smear.

Kristy Lindley of Urban Sparkle helped bring this Pennywise to life!
Proaiir Solids and Proaiir Hybrid Liquids are another great option for a long lasting look. You will remove these first by rubbing the paint with liquid hand soap until the soap breaks down the paint, and then you wash away with water. The ProAiir Solids Kit is perfect for the Pennywise look as well. Apply ProAiir Solids with brushes, sponges dipped in the Prolong Activator / Sealer.
[product:proaiir-solids-hybrid-water-resistant-face-paint-primary-palette-with-1-oz-prolong-activator-sobaspa100]
The White Base
Apply a smooth white base using the paint of your choice. Remember that if you apply white too thickly it could start to crack since it has such a high powder content, so go solid but not too thick. Patting with a sponge helps even out any blotches. The more skin you can cover the more real it will look, so don't forget to paint the ears, into the hairline and the neck for to accomplish a complete makeover. For quick faces at a birthday party you can just stick to the face.
To increase the scary factor and look more like the most recent version of Pennywise, tap on some grey or black powder onto the white to give it a slightly dirty decayed look. You can also draw super fine grey wrinkle lines on the forehead or more thicker browbone and cheekbone shading.
Gaby Renteria created this scary version of it and accentuated his forehead with faux cracks on his skull cap.
Lips and Clown Mouth
Paint the lips red and make them slightly larger by outlining outside of the lip line and then fill them in. You can make them scarier by lightly outlining the bottom lip in black and blend the black into the middle of the lips. Another option is to dab a little black onto the middle of the lips and blend it around a bit. Seal the lips with lipstick sealer so that they last all day.
From the corners of each side of the mouth draw a thin red line that curves out towards the cheek bones and then curves back to the bottom of the outer edge of the iris of each eye. Skip over the eye and continue the line straight up and end it with a pointy tip about an inch and a half above the clients real eye brows. You can mix a little black into the red to make it look kind of dirty or like dried blood.
[product:mehron-lipstix-lipstick-sealer-by-invisible-finish-0-5oz-15ml-mhot140]
The Clown Nose
Load your brush with red and a tiny bit of black and paint the clown nose on. You will want to cover the nostrils completely, even the undersides of them, and the whole tip of the nose with a very slight curve at the top if you want it to look like the Pennywise from 2017.
If you client is concerned about them wiping the paint off of their nose on accident, you can seal it with lipstick sealer as well. The Sealer will also give it a slight shine!
Gaby Renteria dragged the red up the nose a little to make it a little more scary.
The CREEPY Eyes
Outline the eyes in black and then dry blend out the black or use eye shadow to create the smoky eye look. You can get creative here and add other colors like purples, reds, greens, blues or silver if you want. You can also shade a little on the side of the nose if you want.
They Evil Eye Brows
The older 1990 Tim Curry version of Pennywise had black short thin eyebrows with a more friendly arch, while the newer version has eye brows that are carved into it's skull cap, so they look light grey. It is up to you how obvious you want to make them, but don't forget that the new Pennywise has eye brows that transition from a scowl to an evil arch. I think of it as a type of sideways s curve that makes Pennywise look extra menacing.
If you want to do a Pennywise Character with a twist, the possibilities are endless. Below you will see some creepy, cute and glam versions of Pennywise!
Pennywise inspired design by Heather Saxon Porter from Rainbow Tiger Face Painting. These killer teeth and intense wrinkles were all done with that magic of face paint! Heather used extreme shading and highlighting to create this amazing look!
Katie Leonard painted this more glamourous Pennywise design, and the client made sure to have a pretty outfit to match. By skipping the white base you get to see more of the human behind the clown, and the shimmer black eye shadow, red glitter accents on the red paint, and large eye lashes throw a feminine twist to the Pennywise character!
Thomas Bartley from Thomas Paints took Pennywise to new terrifying heights with this massive mouth of long yellow teeth and drool. He painted the red eye makeup to look like dripping blood and made the hair look almost like brains. The red contacts are the finishing touch to this incredible design!
Have trouble painting creepy teeth?! Why not buy a custom pair of Dental Distortions in Pennywise! You can get them in pink or black gums! These are custom fit fake teeth that snap on to your real teeth. The FANGS 2.0 series are easier to customize and are thinner and more comfortable than any fake costume teeth that you may have tried! Find more creepy add ons by visiting our Special FX products page here.

You don't have to be the literal clown this Halloween. Hannah Grace painted this awesome Pennywise inspired design on her face and body for an amazing look.
This prize winning design by Thomas Bartley of Thomas Paints uses the face as a canvas for a terrifying scene from the movie. Below you will see another artist recreated the scene for a special photo!
Don't look behind you! Pennywise on the prowl by Fadila Kakaka
Gemma McEvoy from Glittergem Face and Body Art added deep shading on the forehead and jaw line and nose to create a lot of dimension to the Pennywise face. She also omitted the red nose to make it more unique. Wouldn't you be terrified to see this child walking down the street on Halloween?!
Jnat Gunna helped turn her child into a super cool Pennywise Character with a red and black one piece clown costume and short red spiky hair.
Dominique House with her well dressed Pennywise the Dancing Clown
Tiffany Vale's Pennywise design included this cool silver and white costume with a wig and bald cap combo which was sure to send chills down other people's spines!
Anna Chapovalov created this Pennywise look, which makes my blood run cold. The texture on the skull cap and sheer white ruffle collar amps up the look!
Makeup artist, Tracy Osborne, had the luck to paint Pennywise Twins. The blood stained dressed with little red pompons and red crimped wigs styled with pig tails pulled this creepy team Halloween look together.
Amy Harrison Catherine Grace Meg Billington
Face painters know that a lot of kids will ask for a Pennywise design at any type of party, not just on Halloween! Make sure to practice your Pennywise designs and keep it light and fun so that you don't scare off any guests! In general Pennywise has been all over social media and movie posters so kids have gotten used to him, but don't forget that some people are terribly scared of clowns so paint this design with caution.
Please let us know if you need any more tips or tricks to make your Pennywise nightmares come true! Contact me at anna@jestpaint.com
Thank you to all of the incredible artists who submitted their work for this blog post! We wish you all an amazing Halloween Season!
Sara Hicks and her model got into the spirit!
Kelly de Jonghe's little Pennywise creeping around!
Every year once we are over Christmas it feels like Halloween is just around the corner, at least for those of us that love the season! So, it is never too early to start thinking about your 2023 Halloween look, and if you have not done it yet, then Pennywise might be the character for you this year.
Make sure you start looking into the different styles and gather some info on how to achieve that look and what products you will need to get. It is best to start early so that you have plenty of time to try out the look, see what works and what doesn't for you, research the proper face painting and special effects products and start practicing! Don't wait until October to get ready because many must have products run out of stock by then.

Santi had the pleasure of meeting Susy in person at the Capital Kidvention in 2020 and we felt it was time to feature her and her EZ Stroke cakes here. We love EZ Strokes because they are perfect for artists who are looking a cake that gives them a beautiful blend of a color range with a dark shading or outlining edge. Artists who are new to one stroke painting love them because they are easier to use since you don't risk overmixing multiple contrasting colors together until you get a muddied cake. They are perfect for superheroes, animals, princesses, mermaids and more!
Make sure to check out Susy's social media pages after learning a little more about her in this Jest Paint edition of Meet the Artist!
How long have you been face painting, and how did you find out about this art form?
I started face painting 15 years ago, sometime after I saw a someone face painting at a party, and I was told she was paid $75. I began to do research on this art form and fell in love.
Her little girl above is such a great model!
Do you do any other types of art, or do you have any art experience from your past that you use in some way with your face painting?
Yes, I have been sketching and painting since I can remember. I also have a college degree in graphic design.
What is the face painting community like in your area? Are there a lot of face painters? Do you jam together or have workshops?
We have a highly active face painting community in our area. We have many face painters compared to other areas, as in Central Florida we have Disney, Universal and other parks that hire and train face painters.
What do you love about your EZ Strokes Collection with Silly Farm Arty Brush Cakes?
They make my face painting easier! Before EZ Strokes, I used to load my flat brush in a color like red, for example, and then drop its edge on some black. I did this for some time with every color. Then I started creating one strokes at home that had for example, blue with a small black edge, and the same with every other color. This is how EZ Strokes were born!
What types of events and festivals do you do the most, and what type do you enjoy the most?
I usually have many corporate events. However, I love and prefer small birthday parties where I can take my time to paint each child's face.
How do you use social media to promote your business?
I mostly use Facebook and Instagram to promote my business. I post several designs of my work every week. I mostly post my face painting designs, but I also post and enjoy airbrush tattoos, caricatures, balloon twisting and balloon décor.
How has Covid 19 impacted your business? Do you see things coming back now?
Things unfortunately stopped abruptly after the end of March of 2020 and remained mostly the same throughout the year. Things have picked up slowly, but surely, and I am very hopeful that they will continue this way.
Where do you look to get new ideas for face painting?
From everywhere! I will be an eternal student. I get bored if I paint the same thing, the same way every single time. This is why you have seen different versions of my mermaid, or different versions of the Spiderman, etc.
What are your favorite designs to paint?
Mermaids, Butterflies, Princesses and Unicorns
What are some face painting colors and or tools that you can’t live without?
Oh dear, EZStrokes, LOL! Wolfe black and white, flat brushes and sponges.
Blazin Brushes, Wolfe Paint, BAM Stencil Peacock Deco, TAP Stencils Fish Scales
How often do you practice, and in what ways do you practice, or people, boards or practice heads?
I usually practice on the job. But sometimes I get inspired to create a new design and I practice on my daughter or my little neighbors.
What is one piece of advice that you have for brand new face painters?
Don't be so hard on yourself! Continue to practice, take as many face painting classes as you can and buy the best quality products.
You can follow Susy at FunnyCheeks Kids Entertainment on Facebook by clicking here and you Can Follow her on Instagram here at funnycheeks_ent. You are going to love to see all of her amazing designs and watch how Susy is working safely and effectively in 2021 spreading color and smiles!
So, I have decided to write a blog post about her. This is Santi, her husband since 2010, and her partner in business.
There is a lot to be told about her story, how she came about creating her store and how she got started in the Face painting world.
Anna has made huge contributions to the face painting community, not only by introducing thousands of them to the world of split cakes, but also by creating unique products that are a staple in today's face painter´s kits, teaching classes around the world and providing some of the most comprehensive product descriptions for almost every product at her store, so that customers can really know what they are buying.
Anna has also been a key factor in helping develop products for brands, like Global Body Art and then Fusion Body Art, helping not only create awesome color combinations, but also helping design products, colors, adjust formulas to meet specific needs and more!
Let us review her history and each of her contributions to the face paint world!
Anna learned to face paint as a kid. She was clowning around at the early age of 10 years old when she and her mom decided to learn how to face paint as part of their clowning skills. They joined Clown Ally 44 and learned from the pros! Since then, Anna fell in love with face painting and in her early 20s she was already teaching classes and vending supplies locally and at regional conventions for children's entertainers.
All the way back in 2007 when YouTube had just started to become a thing and when almost nobody else was teaching face painting online, Anna started to release her free face painting tutorials, mixed with a lot of house fun and other crazy things.
This was Anna's first ever video:
Pretty funky, isn´t it? This was just the start of a YouTube channel that now has almost 300 videos, over 22 thousand subscribers and almost 10 million views!
After meeting the Wolfe Brothers in 2005 and watching Brian Wolfe paint a neon rainbow on her daughters cheek with a Wolfe rainbow cake, she knew she had to start making more color combos. She purchased a lot of face paint and arranged the colors so that she could paint dolphins, snakes, butterflies, dragons and more. Anna started selling her hand made Rainbow Pots right away at local conventions, before anyone else made them available to the face painting community and they instantly became a hit! The only other company that had rainbow cakes besides Wolfe was Snazaroo, who also had a regular rainbow cake and a red white and blue one for 4th of July. Anna had come up with over 20 different color combinations to offer in stackable square containers that would fit a foam wedge or flat brush perfectly. She was excited to finally meet Rebecca and Jodi Carr at a class on the west coast, whom also started making rainbow cakes and teaching the one stroke techniques.
In January 2009 she made them available online so that more people could buy her creations thanks to a friend that helped her set up her first version of JestPaint.com. Back then, the Rainbow Pots were all made by her, and we know of people that still have some in their kits! She was the second person ever to offer these split cakes online, Rebecca had teamed up with Silly Farm and had them available for sale at their shop by the end of 2008.
Along with her hand made Rainbow Pots she started offering Diamond FX products. She was one of the first online stores to offer this brand in the USA, and Anna spent a long time working with the amazing team at Diamond FX to create new products, new cakes, and expand the brand so that thousands of face painters could get to know it.
Later in 2009 Diamond FX started offering factory made split cakes that looked just as great but had a more professional finish than Anna's hand made cakes. Anna kept offering her hand made versions since she had unique color combinations that nobody else was offering and would do custom requests, including double gradient (dark on both edges and light in the middle) cakes that allowed you to create 3D looking shapes with one swipe of your brush.
Sometime in 2010 TAG Body Art did the BIG debut of their 30gr split cakes in long white rectangular containers, the containers that became a staple in almost every kit. They were the first brand to release split cakes on this kind of container and soon after all followed.
TAG is a great company and they allowed Anna was to team up with them and create amazing and unique color combinations that TAG would custom make for her and back then were only available at JestPaint.com. Many other stores later took on some of those same combinations due to their popularity and some change their names while others chose to use the same name Anna had given them. Some have also become standard color combos that TAG offers to everyone.
But Anna did not stop there and she asked TAG to create a product that had not been done until then, a 2 color cake in the 50gr size, that allowed face painters to fit more colors into their kits. This was done around 2012, and since than other brands have created similar products and TAG decided to make a set of two color splits as part of their product lines.
In 2013, we heard of a brand of face paint that was looking to get into the US market, Global Body Art. We got in contact with them and immediately started testing their products. They had created a really unique line of face paints but some of their colors needed some adjustments. This led to Anna collaborating with them to create a new green and blue shade for them, asking for a stronger black, working on improving their white, and later on designing new custom colors from scratch by hand blending colors at her store until she got the unique shade she was looking for.
After Andrea O´Donnell had rocked the face painting world with her BAM Stencils, Anna decided to create her own line of stencils mostly focused on cheek-art designs and a small stencil surface that would fit right on little kid´s faces. TAP Stencils become super popular and are currently sold on every continent (except for Antarctica).
The creation of our first ever product line, lead to the creation later on of Bolt Brushes and Splash Sponges, always focusing on quality and what face painters were needing at the time.
Mehron had taken that lead with Jinny, creating the first ever line of face painting brushes and sponges specifically designed for face painters, but we felt the need to go beyond and create new sponge shapes, a wider variety of brushes and have our own unique specifications.
Following up with her experience working alongside Global, when Fusion Body Art was brought into the USA market with Jest Paint as the official distributor for the USA market and Latin America, Anna worked with them to create unique colors, the best white face paint ever, specific split cakes that would become big sellers and she helped them design the first ever large split cake palettes to hit the face painting market, using not only split cakes, but combining them with solid colors and 2 color split cakes, something that was brand new back then.
As a well known figure in the face painting community, and an influential source of inspiration for many face painters, Anna was asked to teach classes at several conventions, including: FABAIC, the FPBA, the Saint Joseph's convention in CA, local conventions in Michigan, the first and second International Face Painting Summits by the IFPS and more. She has also taught classes in Argentina and has been asked to teach in Costa Rica and other countries and conventions around the world, she just has not had the time to get to, yet!
Anna has also focused on writing and helping edit some of the most comprehensive free blog posts written for the face painting industry, providing industry members with very useful and detailed information not only on how to face paint, but how to run your business, how to create contracts, legal and tax considerations, ingredients research and more. The Jest Paint blog is by far one of the most popular face painting blogs in the industry and it is visited daily by hundreds of people, continuing to be listed at the top 10% most visited blogs within all Shopify blogs.
Anna is also an administrator for several Facebook Groups, some of which were acquired by Jest Paint, others were created by her, and she shares a lot of tips with new and long time face painters, including live demos to showcase new products and techniques.
Taking advantage of the popularity of the platforms she created and her social media accounts, Anna has shared other artist´s artwork with thousands of people allowing them to become well known and spreading their artwork worldwide. Anna has also supported creative artists that have designed their own products, selling those products at our store, and even helping some of them with tips and ideas to make sure their products could be as popular as possible.
This has led to Jest Paint now selling products by Andrea O'Donnell, Marcela Bustamante, Leanne Courtney, Milena Potekhina, Svetlana Keller, Natalee Davies, Susy Amaro, Lenore Koppelman, Olga Murasev, Prima Barton, Jinny, Tal Soriano, Jacqueline Howe, Nicole Sanders, Erika Harrison, April Fredge, Matteo Arfanotti, Jenny Saunders, Cameron Garret and more!
Anna was always a dedicated member of her community and once her store became a reliable source of income Anna was able to expand her reach to even more communities around the world, be it by donating face painting supplies to artists worldwide, donating her time to participate at charities, or financially supporting non profit organizations and travelling artists to do good around the world.
A critical part of Jest Paint's mission is to spread peace and love, and Anna is committed to do that in many different ways. Not only supporting artists and communities, but also taking care of our planet by using the most environmentally friendly business practices, supporting the sale of vegan products never tested on animals, and providing everyone that works at Jest Paint with a living wage based on regional standards.
She has also encouraged big players in our industry to have more transparent labeling practices, to remove unnecessary ingredients and packaging from products, and to work on more environmentally friendly practices.
This is just a short summary of what Anna has done for the face painting community and industry. With an ever-growing store supported by thousands of customers worldwide, Anna is always looking at ways to improve the industry, help other face painters, create new products, improve on existing ones and make sure that thousands of kids can smile thanks to face paints!
Anna has always focused not on being first, but being the best at it, not in search of a title, a price or a trophy, but because she serves professionals that rely on her work to do their job, and because our ultimate customers is usually a kid, that only deserves the best of the best.

Dynasty Brush Artist Spotlight: Anna Wilinski -
http://blog.dynastybrush.com/2017/10/artist-spotlight-anna-wilinski.html
]]>
But she is not only an amazing artist but also a genius at color combinations! She created an original and first of its kind golden range of split cakes that gave gold a primary spotlight in the cake, along with other colors that complemented the gold in cold or warm tones to make her butterflies even more unique.
The Gold Collection Nat cakes have been around for some years now, and she recently had the brilliant idea of adding white to edge her designs made with these cakes to make them look completely different, getting basically an entire set of 6 new cakes by just adding some white at the end. Simple right? Yet, what an amazing change! And if you add white over the entire cake you get a soft gentle look that is also out of this world!
But Nat doesn't just use her cakes to paint, she also loves to use Leanne Courtney's cakes to complement her looks and create brilliant and bold designs that are sure to catch everyone's attentions.
In this blog post we want to show you have you can combine both palettes, how to do the white trick to get a Golden Range with a white edge or white coat over, and how to be creative with the products you have to explore new ideas and looks.
Of course, if you don't have Nat's or Leanne´s palettes, we highly suggest for you to get them, you will be using them as crazy once you have them in your kits as kids and adults go nuts when they see them in action. They are a true investment that pays off when compared to just more regular style gradient cakes.

Lets get to know the products, the artists behind them and get exploring!
Lucky for us, Natalee has shared with us some AMAZING designs and shared what products she used. To learn her secrets you will need to take some of her classes, but until then you can admire her magic and give a try to your own style using her cakes, which will for sure give you a complete different look while keeping your style.
About two weeks ago Natalee surprised us all with a new idea, adding white to the edge of her Gold Range cakes from her Gold Range Palette just using a flat brush with some white and gold to edge each design.
Look at the image above you can see the difference between a Bold and a Delicate look using the exact same palette, but with some white added. On the bottom left image you can see how she used a brush loaded with a handmade cake that had gold and white in it. The gold overlaps with the golden edge of each of her cakes and then blends nicely into the white. You can do this by using a wider brush, like a 1" brush, pre load the corner with white, and then load her cakes. Also notice the bottom right image from the collage above so that you can see how each cake looks lined with white. You can even get creative and try it with a shimmery white!
See the GIFS below for some fast tutorials on how to do these techniques, and to see how these cakes look on your skin when loaded by themselves, with white over, and with white on the edge.
But not only that, she also showed us how you could fully load your brush with the cake and then add some white, or add white your brush first and then load the cake and get a softer look, all by using the same cakes in your kit plus some white (which we all have, right?).
How long have you been face painting, and how did you find out about this art form?
I started face Painting around 2005-2006 by pure accident. I was running a small baby clothes business “little Grippers” and was struggling with marketing. I began selling my baby clothes at a small local market but could only afford a ridiculously small stall and people would just walk past and barely notice my range.
I was walking through my local art and crafts store looking for materials for my sons' Easter hat parade and noticed face paints in little pots and a step-by-step instruction book, this caught my attention and being a makeup artist though “I can do this” and went home and practiced the designs in the book. I created a cardboard sign with painted plastic face masks and began to offer free face painting at the baby and kids market. After a few weekends mums were asking me if I could paint for them at their child’s birthday parties and that is where it all began. I soon met a local balloon twister at a birthday party who told me all about the face painting community and so I researched all the different types of paint and tools available and fell in love with this art form. I very quickly threw out my pots of liquid paints and invested in a beautiful set of Mehron makeup. Scrolling through images of face painting on the internet and getting to know my new paints I practiced on every child in the street and my two young boys. Using my knowledge and skills from my makeup and art background I very eagerly began to merge my skills together and create simple designs for birthday parties.
Do you do any other types of art, or do you have any art experience from your past that you use in some way with your face painting?
From a young child I was obsessed with makeup and would spend hours upon hours doing my own makeup. Having a sister 5 years older than me I would sit and watch her and her friends put makeup on before they would go out. At primary school I would draw pictures for my friends and write their names in calligraphy. Drawing and painting butterflies on canvas is a hobby I started in primary school and still have today... This kept me sane during COVID lockdown.
After leaving high school in 2013 I commenced a clerical traineeship as I really did not know what I wanted to do for a career. I did not enjoy the mundane routine of office life and enrolled in a makeup course at night and started doing weddings and makeup in the evenings and weekends.
So combining my love for makeup, drawing, coloring inn and painting has all contributed to how I paint today.
What is the face painting community like in Australia? Are there a lot of face painters?
Australia is such a big country, and we are all so vastly spread apart. Each state works independently and within those states the community works in smaller groups from town to town. The online forums and Facebook groups keep us in touch with each other as some of the bigger companies have national contracts requiring artist all around Australia and hire contractors in each state.
We have some amazingly talented artists here and lots of newer artists just starting their journey in the industry. I am based in Sydney and have met some of the nicest people over the years and many I know will be friends for life.
We have so many different types of businesses that either focus solely on face painting or offer a variety of entertainment from balloon twisting, games, dress up characters, airbrush tattoos and craft etc.
In Sydney we have quite a big community that is split up into smaller groups for several reasons, such as: Location, skill level, types of services offered, and hourly rate all have an impact on how we work together and what subcontractors are suitable for each job.
Do you jam together or have workshops?
I have toured Australia and run numerous workshops in every state (except Northern Territory). So, I have been incredibly lucky to meet many Australian artists. Some more than once. Many years ago, we used to have Jams but not so much these days as many of us are busy parents and are time poor. We are all looking forward to resuming workshops once the industry recovers.
What do you love about your Gold Collection with Fusion?
I created these unique colors many years ago with the concept of combining colors I love in makeup that could be used in countless ways and designs without needing to go back and outline your design and incorporating a large portion of gold that blends effortlessly with other colors. These unique color combinations are very thoroughly thought out and combined to be the most versatile one strokes I have ever had in my kit; the possibilities are endless. Combining my colors with Fusion has been an amazing venture. With the palette you have all 6 color combinations in one handheld palette meaning artists all over the world can try them and if they love one color more than others can purchase the larger one strokes. The quality of fusion paint is divine and most importantly is very affordable.
What types of events and festivals do you do the most, and what type do you enjoy the most?
My business based in Sydney “Nat’s Fancy Faces” is predominantly focused on large corporate events. Nationally with Disney on Ice for a few years but now mainly local councils that run Festivals, grand openings for parks, Australia Day celebrations, Easter shows and Christmas Carol events. I also have numerous large Private corporations that run annual family fun days, Christmas holiday programs, Large New Year’s Eve celebrations, School holiday activities and in the last few years the UV Painting has been an amazing addition to our business that clients incorporate into their events.
I regularly contract for some great friends who run businesses with the same business model, and I work representing their business at shopping centers, football games, Casino’s, the rocks, entertainment centers just to name a few.
These large events are what I love most as it is usually means I am with a team of artists and twisters. The atmosphere and comradery between us is so much fun, its hard to believe we get paid to jam with our friends doing what we love and bringing joy to kids and adults. It’s also the length of the gigs that is appealing as we can set up and remain in one location for 3-8hours rather than packing up every hour or two and driving from gig to gig which is what happens with birthday parties. I have been doing birthday parties this year as COVID has kept the large events from proceeding, however things are pretty much back to normal now in Sydney.
How do you use social media to promote your business?
I use Facebook and recently Instagram to post pictures of my art. I do not really promote, my business its predominantly all word of mouth and subcontracting with other local businesses. I am not tech savvy unfortunately, so I do not use social media to its full potential.
You can also join her own private run Facebook Group where she showcases all sorts of designs made with her Gold Range and own line of brushes along with Leanne Courtney's Fusion Palettes. But she also loves to see how everyone else is using her products to create their own unique designs!
How has COVID19 impacted your business?
COVID19 completely shut down my business including travelling and teaching. I was a week away from boarding a plane to The Netherlands to teach at EFABE followed by numerous booked out classes in Glasgow. So, like all of us worldwide everything we knew just stopped. Our creative outlet, income, social interactions, and mental health all suffered greatly. It was devastating and the future outcome was unknown. It has now meant returning to work is filled with COVID safety plans, re-evaluating, and implementing new hygiene practices. It has also meant I have to go back to birthday parties with smaller numbers. We have been extremely lucky in Australia that our government closed our borders both internationally and between states at times and used QR codes to track and control potential outbreaks which means we have been able to get back to normal life much faster. I used the time in lock down to retrain my skills and start a new Eyelash extension business from home.
Where do you look to get new ideas for face painting?
I do not really look for new ideas because I have been painting for so long and paint the same things repetitively. Boredom and experimenting results in happy accidents and I use those happy accidents and evolve them to keep my creative brain ticking. I really look at nature, especially for flowers, leaves and animal designs. It is the little things like ear shapes, muzzle size, nose shapes and colors that can define what you are painting and once you master the shape and features of a design you can start to be experimental with color. Nature has been the best form of inspiration for me.
When you are on the job you only have a minute to think. I look at the child’s clothing and facial structure to work out what colors to use, placement and design. Its taken years of practice but knowing the raw shape and structure of a design combined with great quality tools and colors creativity in the moment takes over.
What are your favorite designs to paint?
Butterflies are my all-time favorite design. Anything that incorporates flowers, rainbows, and lots of color. But really it’s the “Do whatever you like” requests that I really enjoy as it gives me a break from the repetitive cycle and makes me think.
What are some face painting colors and or tools that you can’t live without?
My ¾” Flat brush and my makeup blending brushes are the most important tools I absolutely cannot live without. Paints I use religiously are my gold range and Leanne’s colors. Leanne and I are the best of friends and work together often so combining our colors together is something we have done for many years, and combined are a great balance of bold sophisticated colors balanced with bright and colorful and combined creates beautiful balance to my designs. Fusion Paraffin white is my go-to white for all my line work and when worked into a paste can be used on the edge of a brush to create a beautiful pastel effect on darker skin tones. I also cannot live without Mehron white in my kit.
How often do your practice, and in what ways do you practice, on people, boards or practice heads?
The only practice I get is on the job of a weekend or if an idea pops into my head I'll paint on my leg or arm. When I run workshops, I like students to paint on water color paper or their own face as I find boards and practice heads to be too slippery and do not absorb the paint so brush control and layering colors is very difficult. Plus, with water paper all the work they do in class is taken home and will not be forgotten.
What is one piece of advice that you have for brand new face painters?
We all start somewhere!!! Take your time and get to know your tools and paints. Investing in good quality brushes and paints can save you time, money, and a lot of frustration. Repetition and practice is the only way forward. Muscle memory and brush control takes time so don’t compare yourself to someone who has been painting longer, this is your creative journey so just enjoy the process and back yourself.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well, if you haven´t yet, we highly suggest you get yourself a Natalee Davies Gold Range Palette and look into her Gold Range Single Cakes as well, and while you are at it, white look into some of Leanne Courtney's amazing palettes and cakes as well, you will not be disappointed!

]]>Milena Potekhina's incredible face painting designs started showing up in my Instagram Feed three years ago and I was immediately floored by her beautiful compositions! I would stare at each design trying to learn something from her flow, sponging, color usage, and always trying to figure out how she was able to create such symmetrical delicate line work or such balance in her asymmetrical designs. As you read through this post you will know what I mean when you see her works of art!
Milena doesn't only rock at pretty designs, she also has very creative, scary and cool designs too! She takes popular superhero designs like spider man, and turns them into her own unique work of art. Her young son, below with all of the clockworks, pushes her to try tricky designs!
I love how she incorporates all of her talent with flowers into sugar skulls for Dia De Los Muertos / Day of the Dead. Each design is so rich and flowing!
Milena is from St. Petersburg Russia. She now has well over 1000 posts of incredible designs and many videos on her Instagram page (milena_facearist)! Since she has become so well known in our industry, she has been collaborating with different companies to create her own lines of products. She also has her own independent line of MILENA Stencils that can bring her incredible line work and cool cheek art into your own designs! We were so happy to bring all of her products to Jest Paint! When you are done reading this post you can see more of her work on Instagram Here!
I was so lucky to have the opportunity to interview Milena and find out how she became such an outstanding face painter and business woman. Here we go!
I started face painting 7 years ago, in 2013. I was looking for a way to work. When I tried to work as an face painting make-up artist, it didn't bring me money, but I really liked doing it. When I started painting, good quality materials appeared in our country, including splits, so I used them almost from the very beginning.
I am a textile artist by training. I was engaged in painting on silk (batik), as well as weaving tapestries. For quite a long time I was engaged in textile decoration of interiors, as well as painting costumes for gymnasts, figure skaters and synchronized swimmers. But soon I was so carried away by face painting that, from my previous life, I left only teaching at the University of Technology and Design in St. Petersburg, where I have been teaching the Basics of Composition at the Department of Costume Design for over 20 years.
At first, I didn't use stencils at all. I was bad at it, the drawings were numb, and this continued until small sponges appeared on my finger. With their appearance, my attitude towards stencils has changed dramatically.
To create my own line of stencils, I was inspired by my youngest son, who wanted me to draw a typewriter on him, but he was ready to sit for no more than a minute. And then I realized that I needed to do something. And since I could not buy the necessary stencil, I decided that I needed to make it myself.
Since I myself am a working face painting artist, I understand what stencils are simply necessary in my work, what size they should be, what children often ask for, what takes a long time to draw, and where stencils can greatly simplify the work, as well as make it more interesting and richer.
I really love painting girls of all ages, because I love creating designs with patterns and colors. And in general I am very fond of little girls, I am delighted with them. Probably because I have three sons. Therefore, I am ready to paint anything, only if these babies are happy and smile back at me.
The guides were created by Svetlana Keller. She came up with this format of the training manual. It is really very convenient, with these sets it is simply impossible not to learn how to paint. To paint seemingly complex drawings quickly in a few strokes is quite difficult. In these training sets, I decomposed all the drawings into very simple strokes that are available to everyone, but for this I had to make special split cakes, narrower than the standard ones. So that on a narrow brush you can also apply contrasting combinations. That is how I started my line of Arty Brush Cakes. I really love all colors, I like to make new combinations, because even the most successful ones get boring to me, and I want something new.
We have a lot of face paint make-up artists in our city, more than 300 people! 100 of which paint at a very high level. We have a chat in which we communicate, exchange experiences, impressions, and orders. My closest and beloved face painting artist, with whom we often work together, is Svetlana Ivanova. After big holidays for make-up artists such as Halloween, New Year, Christmas, we often meet with make-up artists in some cozy restaurant and talk about interesting incidents at work, funny situations and funny kids.
Learning more about Milena's art history past was so exciting for me! I felt that she had to have some formal art training, but to find that she painted batik and body suites, and taught costume design in the university was a real surprise! She has been teaching masterclass face painting workshops and helping improve the quality of face painting around the world! Milena also won a first place in the International Face and Body Painting Convention in Florida in 2019, a well deserved award!
Milena said that things in St. Petersburg has all shut down because of COVID so she isn't working now, but she can't wait for the day that she can get back out there and start making the magic again!
Most face painters have seen a tutorial on how to paint a 1 stroke rose bud or full rose, but never before has there been a guide like this were you can learn not only how to paint a variety of flowers but also learn how to position them on the face and add all of the extra details to create a complete and extremely eye pleasing design! The Sparkling Faces Guides come with a clear practice board that you place about the step by step sheets so that you can gradually build up the design and practice it over and over until your muscle memory kicks in and you can do them on the job!

Milena also released a Halloween and Christmas Themed Guide that will be back next year at Jest Paint!
MILENA Stencils are made from a soft flexible mylar that is perfect when used with a small sponge loaded with almost dry face paint. There are intricate crowns, wild roses, compasses, scorpions, playing cards and so much more to choose from. These stencils are perfect for kids and adults, boys and girls, and you can also use them for arts and crafts. Click here to see MILENA Stencils at Jest Paint. More will be in stock when the face painting season picks up in 2021.[product:milena-stencils-face-painting-stencil-tribal-crown-o13]
Milena's collaboration with Silly Farm led to a special release of Arty Brush Cakes to go with her Flower Guides. These cakes are perfect for roses and other styles of flowers, and of course, beautiful leaves! We are happy to show support to her creative endeavors and carry these new cakes at Jest Paint! You can see them all by clicking this link to the Arty Brush Collection.

]]>Water activated eye liners also known as dry liners, wet liners, hydra or aqua liners or even as Hydra Color are the newest makeup trend and fashionistas around the world are going nuts about how bold and easy to use these makeup products are!
Unlike most regular eye liners that come in a pen form, the hydra or aqua style liners come in a dry form with a consistency between clay and chalk depending on the brand and color, and they need to be activated with a very thin synthetic bristled brush and water.
These new kind of eye liners are water activated eye liners that come in a dry cake form that can have the consistency of clay or chalk depending on brand and color.
The word hydra, hydro or aqua simply means water, and they are used to refer to these products as they are water activated products.
Some brands refer to them as hydra liners, some call them wet liners, aqua liners, dry liners. They are all pretty much the same concept. A clay like makeup cake that is very pigmented and needs to be activated with water using a long tip brush.
The best way to use an aqua style liner is to activate it with clean water and a thin long tip brush, preferably made from synthetic bristles as they work better with this kind of makeup. Just follow these steps:
1 - Dip your brush in water.
2 - Rub the brush back and forward against the makeup cake until you notice that the brush is well loaded but nor drippy. It should have a thick ink consistency.
3 - Rub off any excess makeup of the tip of your brush against the edge of the water container.
4 - Apply on the eye lid, over the lash line (not on the wet line as this is a water activated product) in a simple stroke. You can always do re touches if needed.
5 - Rinse your brush well. You can read all of our sanitization suggestions for makeup artists and face painters on the following blog posts:
A - COVID Related Sanitation Tips for Makeup Artists
B - Top 10 Safety and Hygiene Tips for Makeup Artists - The Ultimate Guide
C - How to Sanitize and Clean your Makeup Brushes and Sponges
A few things that you should NEVER do:
1 - Do not apply water, or makeup activator directly onto the makeup cake, always apply it to your brush.
2 - If you use anything other than water to activate our wet liner, then is best to scrape some qua style liner off the pot with a metal spatula, putting it on a makeup palette, and then activating that portion of the makeup with the activator, this way, you won-t be adding other ingredients to the original pot. This is also a great sanitation tip to keep your makeup pots free from bacteria.
Here is a very good brush we recommend for applying your wet eye liner:
[product:bolt-face-painting-brushes-by-jest-paint-thin-round-1]
This Bolt Brush has a very sharp thin tip that will give you full control on application and it is easy to wash and re use as needed.
That really depends on the brands, although most use a paraffin wax, glycerin and or Acacia Senegal Gum base, with cosmetic grade or special effect pigments.
This is something that you would need to check with every individual brand. Most brands of dry liners we have researched use vegan ingredients and are not tested on animals. The only non vegan ingredients you could find on some brands are normally lanolin, carmine pigment, shellac and beeswax. Read the ingredients list carefully and ask questions to make sure that you support cruelty free makeup products.
By definition water activated eye liners, also known as hydra or aqua liners are water activated which means that they are not water proof. But, if you use a makeup sealer like Ben Nye Final Seal or a Water Resistant Activator like Mehron's Mixing Liquid instead of water, you can obtain a more water and sweat resistant look. Keep in mind that both of these products contain alcohol, so you need to be very careful when working near the eye.
[product:ben-nye-spray-final-seal-2-fl-oz-59ml]
[product:mehron-mixing-liquid-4-5-fl-oz-mhot104]
Although these wet liners are not water proof, they tend to be fairly smudge resistant.
Yes, Hydra Color or wet style liners come in many different shades including matte colors, metallic or pearlescent colors and neon/UV style colors.
Matte colors tend to be vibrant, opaque and have a matte or glossy finish depending on the specific formula.
Metallic or pearl colors have a nice shine to them, and although they give a bit less definition because of their pearlescent finish, they are beautiful and if dark enough will provide a solid coverage.
UV or neon style hydra liners are extremely vibrant and most react to black light, making them glow under a black light and looking super bright under regular sun light. They look even more impactful when used over darker skin tones.
Yes you can! They can be used as eye shadow and the metallic colors look specially good for that, you can even combine them with some ultra fine loose powder like the Mehron Gem Powders or with Cosmetic Grade Fine or Chunky Glitters. Just make sure to use a makeup sealer afterwards to make the results last. You can also extend your makeup look and make it out of this world using glitter cremes or gels.
If used as a lipstick you will need a really good lipstick sealer, as otherwise it will come off easily.
They are not intended to be used as foundation, highlighters or blush as the consistency is not ideal for such makeup uses.
You can also use them to create more out of the box makeup looks, using shields or stencils to create more elaborate makeup looks that will stand out on a cat walk, or for editorial jobs.
The most important ting about any makeup product, including Hydra Color style wet liners is that it should be stored in a clean environment, away from direct sunlight, direct sources of heat, in a cool and dry environment. Never leave them inside your car or in a basement, or kitchen.
Before you put them away make sure they are fully dry, if they are not, leave them with the lids open in a clean environment until they dry, then put the lids back on and store.
You can use a makeup case to keep them from being exposed to light.
Hydra Color liners, just as others in the market referenced as hydra, wet, dry or aqua liners can be removed using a makeup wipe or just soap and water and a gentle makeup sponge. They are very easy to remove and they don't require the use of expensive makeup removers.
If by any chance you are left with a small faint shadow of the color, you can use lotion to hydrate the area and then remove again with soap and water.
Yes you can! You can correct your application of wet liners with a Q-tip style tool. Just get the tip wet, if you can add some makeup soap like Lush Brush to your water for easier removal, and wipe off the area you want to clean, then use a dry end of the Q-tip to dry the area and leave it nice and clean.
Well, this is probably what is going to blow makeup artists minds! These are cute dry makeup cakes that can be activated with water using a 1/4" small angular brush to pick 2 or more colors and create an instant rainbow eye liner look with one stroke of your liner brush! This is insanely great looking and fast and easy to do! Just twist your brush so you start with just the tip and as you get to the center of the eye you can twist it so the full width of the brush touches the eyelid giving you the full rainbow effect.
This kit bellow is the perfect way to get you started into this totally brand new makeup trend of one stroke Rainbow Liners that can set your makeup skills apart from competitors and allow you to become the next YouTube sensation!

"My head lives in fairyland a lot of the time, I dream up these dreams and even if they seem crazy I give it a shot" -Leanne Courtney
Hi everyone, most of my friends call me Lea. I am a face paint artist from Sydney Australia it’s a beautiful place and I love living here. You can often find me walking around Bondi Beach or hiking in our stunning bushland.
I started face painting in 2013 in a Sydney hotel we call them pubs. The face painter went on holiday for 6 weeks and they asked me if I could paint, always a bit of an adventurer, I said I would give it a shot. From that first shaky spider-man, I never looked back. I was totally obsessed, I thought about paint every single second of my day and often woke up in the middle of the night and thought about it.
No, I had never studied art and even at school it didn’t grab me. Drawing and shading in pictures of peas in pods did not hold my attention for long! I did love my colour pencils and Texta’s growing up and I still remember how wondrous they looked all lined up neatly in a myriad of colours. My grandfather was an artist though and I would be allowed in his little veranda studio to watch him paint when I was little.
Oh that one is easy! Linework, linework and linework. It still is a little hard for me. I cannot put enough emphasis on that you should try to practice your teardrops and swirls and lines every day even if it is for a few minutes on your own arm. The other thing that was challenging was knowing what to buy, but I can honestly say buying better products will make you faster and it is easier and your work will look better and that will get you booked on more jobs.
I practiced and practiced and asked a local mum’s group if I could paint their children for free so I could get some photographs. They were really happy to do this and it was a fun morning. Now I had photos I could use to advertise! I was ready to start my Face Book business page and start taking bookings. I did lots of small parties and didn’t know any other face painters. I wanted to improve so I paid for a workshop with a fantastic face paint artist that was on you tube and in that class I met so many other painters and they were lovely and they added me to a Sydney Face Painting page where artists shared jobs. I learned I needed insurance and they really helped me by booking me to do the jobs that they couldn’t attend if they had other bookings. It took me about a year before I was booked every weekend because I got better at painting.
So so many fabulous face paint artists that I admire inspired me! Jenny Saunders, Nurit Pilchin, Mark Reid...and then I met Natalee Davies who took me under her wing a bit and really helped by giving me pointers on how to improve my art. Erica Wafford in England has a beautiful style I also love and was inspired by. Anita Lyn, in New Zealand, was the first person to help me do a double dip flower and I’m forever grateful to her. I never wanted to copy anyone, as that was their style. I wanted to paint like me, even if that meant it took a little longer to develop my own style, but these artists were definitely an inspiration.
I fell in love with paint, like madly head over heels. It gave me so much joy and focus and I met artists and had friends and I would rather buy paint than anything else for myself. I bought and tried nearly every product trying to learn about paint, but the one thing that made me sad was that when I tried to paint a rainbow it didn’t make me happy like when I saw a rainbow in the sky, so in all honesty I refused to paint them. After a year of not ever painting rainbows I decided to solve it, so it took me a few hours and my kitchen was horrendously messy with paint everywhere but when I brushed that first stroke on my arm of Leanne’s Rainbow (neon) I got goose bumps like when singers move you, it was the same feeling and I knew I had something that would change face painting for artists all over the world.
From Leanne’s Rainbow I became known all over the world and now I have an entire face paint range Leanne’s Collection that is produced for me by Fusion Body Art. I won’t say I haven’t worked for it because I did. A lot of work perfecting them, sometimes 6 months playing around with a cake until I thought it was beautiful enough and unique and would enhance face painters businesses. Fusion has backed me so much allowing me creative freedom and working so hard to have my collections made and shipped worldwide.
I decided one day to quit my job in a pub and go back and study. I thought I could now support myself face painting on weekends and study during the week. I started studying to be an accountant. I wasn’t at all smart but I worked hard and eventually got a degree. It took me about 5 years as I have 4 children and studying and working and being a mum was a very busy life. I ended up with a graduate role as an accountant and I realized I could never give up face painting, so now I do both. I love both for different reasons, but face painting is definitely what brings me happiness.
Well that’s a tough one and the answer is no, they are proud of me but they think I’m a little crazy. My beautiful little girl Elise supports me by being my model for Leanne’s Collection and that is hours and hours of painting many many designs so I am very grateful to her. They are used to seeing me in rainbow clothes and flowers in my hair or walking with me down the street with my face painted, but really never wanted me to paint them.
That one is easy - BUTTERFLIES!!!!!!!! Butterflies of all different colours! I will never be bored of them.
The colours, the smiles, making art. Never feeling like I know enough and always wanting to learn more. The friends I have made in Sydney and all over the world and the feeling I get when I have painted something that takes my breath away. Its all addictive not only addictive it’s my life 😊

This elaborate design by Karen Huwen reminds me of a Venetian Doll. She used a soft white base and golden eye makeup with chunky red glitter. The hugs eye lashes and petal design on the chin bring this makeup masterpiece together so well.
The fastest way to look special on Halloween is just to accentuate your regular makeup. You can become a magical mermaid by using green and blue sparkling face paints for eye shadows and lipsticks and then use a netting or mermaid scale stencil to add scales around the edges of your face. Superstar Shimmers and Fusion Pearls are some of my favorites! You can use eye shadows to press the color through the holes in the netting, or you can use face paints as well. This gives a fantastic mermaid makeup look. Anything shimmery will provide the best effect for scales! If you don’t have any netting or want a unique mermaid look, check out these cool mermaid scale stencils that you can use! Accent your beautiful Halloween Makeup with glitter and a sparkly dress. If you have the time, craft a mermaid tail, crown, or seashell scepter to complete the look.

Kiki Lee painted this stunning little flower princess using contrasting strokes and bling. Chunky glitter that matches her costume and the face paint colors brings this pretty princess look all together.

Sugar skulls are a fun way to mix creepy with beauty during Halloween. These traditional skulls are referred to as Catrinas or Calaveras, and they are used during the day of the dead to help people laugh a little at death while people remember the loved ones who have passed away. Painting a sugar skull can be done by beginners if you have the right tools. You will need good white face paint to create a smooth base. You can use water-based white face paint and set it with a makeup sealer if you need to party all night long. Once you have applied a smooth base around your face, minus your eye sockets, you can start adding details.

Being a Beautiful Butterfly is a dream of many kids and adults! You could paint a realistic set of butterfly wings over your eyes or go wild and paint a super bold rainbow butterfly with stylized line work.
Below is a fast and easy butterfly design using a rainbow cake and a sponge. I try to keep the wings on the cheeks small to keep the focus on the eyes and not the cheeks, but you can paint your butterfly in any way that you want!
Below are some beautiful butterflies painted by makeup artists from around the world. Notice how different butterfly face paint can look depending on the style of line work you choose, the colors, and the extra details you can add! The fun thing about butterfly wings is that you can tweak them to match any outfit and theme. You could do a butterfly tiger, ice queen, devil, or dragon mashup, by using different colors and patterns in the wings and adding centerpiece matches.
Peacock Inspiration is a glamorous way to take on Halloween. Choose shimmery peacock-colored face paints for a peacock-style rainbow cake, and let your feathers fly! You can try to paint individual feathers around the face or just use the colors to cover your face like a mask and add fine wispy shag around the edges. Use fake eyelashes to take your look to the next level. If you have a real peacock feather, you can even glue it to the center of the face with body glue or eyelash glue. Add gems and glitter to make sure that you catch everyone’s eye.
Kellee Dee of Blue Kangaroo Entertainment created these two scary jack o lantern kids. The dripping black mouths are perfect for scary face paint ideas.
Zombies are always a hit at any Halloween party! Who doesn’t love someone dragging their leg around and groaning, “Brains!”. There is no limit to the amount of blood, maggots, and torn flesh you can add if you really want to scare someone. See examples of easy and complex zombies submitted by face painters below!
Safdar Mohammed created this scary face after being inspired by orcs, trolls, goblins and the such! Can you imagine turning around and seeing this character looking at you? Many kids, adults, and teens are inspired by both the pretty and creepy vampires on TV shows and cartoons! White-based faces with some shading to make the cheekbones pop and painted-on fangs are an easy start for traditional vampires. Many cartoons, like Monster High Dolls and Vampirina, have alternative skin tones like pink and purple. Add exaggerated eyebrows, black or colorful eye shadow, and accessorize with bat wings for pigtails or funky hair streaks. You can add fake blood dripping from your fangs if you want to add some scare factor to your Halloween Vampire look.
Frankenstein's monster has been so popular for Halloween that you can now have fun making some twists when creating your own Frankenstein look. Change the skin tone, accessories and just make sure not to forget some stitches.

Witches have been a classic Halloween choice for decades. Fantasy-style witches from movies, like the Wicked Witch of the West, usually have green skin, but not all witches are green. Think of Glinda the Good Witch, the witches from TV shows like Charmed, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, or even the witch from Game of Thrones. You can paint on a colorful base or just stick to pale white or flesh tone with some edgy eye shadow, shaded cheekbones, bold colored lips, and an outfit to match. Check out this easy face paint step-by-step for a fun green witch!

Cass Cooper created this dramatic bat eye face paint design. The wispy eyes around the eye give it a Witch Makeup look when combined with the right costume pieces like pentacle earrings.
Angie Garcia of Glitterbrush Face Painting is the artist behind this scary mummy face paint idea. She put down white bandages with black out line and an orange face paint base. She added white teeth over a black base around the mouth and some fast white strokes on the hands for bones.
Stranger Things is another super popular show. You can easily become Eleven by adding a little Mehron Coagulated fake blood to the base of a nostril or two and letting it drip. You can wear a Stranger Things T-Shirt and possibly shave your head if you want to drive the idea home!
You can paint all kinds of skulls! Skulls with flames, skulls with cracks, skulls with spider webs, skulls with horns. Here is a basic easy skull design that you can work off of. You can change the proportions of the forehead, eye sockets, jaw bone, and more to make it work for you!
Let’s not forget the Dinosaurs!! Kids love them so much, and they make fantastic Halloween costumes. With a face paint design like this, your child could walk about in regular clothes or a favorite dino-themed t-shirt and still get a lot of attention. I searched for a raptor and found a nice image to try to replicate with face paint. Get creative with colors, and you can use scale stencils to add textures too!
Here are some dinosaur ideas from other makeup artists! Look at all of the ways you could make someone's dinosaur dream come true! These can also be easily tweaked into dragon designs. I love flaming dragons and ice dragons, or cartoon-inspired dragons from How To Train A Dragon.
Gemma McEvoy painted this incredible dino / lizard under your skin design. It looks like the villain from the amazing spiderman movie. The expert use of stencils and contouring make this design really wild!
Sammi Stokes matched the costume ot the face for this cool T REX like dinosaur boy face painting.

Superheroes are never in short supply on Halloween! Spider-Man has been of the most popular costumes after the witch, with more than 2 million kids dressing up as the web-slinger for Halloween. Get creative with your Spider-Man design. Show your child all the options by doing a google search of Spider-Man face paint, and show them the options here as well. You might be surprised that they might be happy with just a half face. Avoiding the mouth area will ensure a good-looking design while your child eats up all of the snacks at the Halloween party.
Spider-Man isn't just for the boys! Girls love to get transformed as well. There are many instances in the comic books where a female Spider-Man-inspired character comes out to save the day!
Here are some more examples from other artists of how to add the spider man look without copying the designs exactly. Get creative and have fun!
Halloween is my favorite time of the year. Kids and adults join in on the fun and face paint helps pull everything together. Plastic or fabric masks can distort or block your vision and they can get really hot really fast. Face painting is a perfect alternative to a store bought mask, and you can use your face paints to paint endless designs for you, your family or your friends. - Anna Wilinski Jest Paint Co -Owner
Here is another Spidey step by step that any kid would love!

Paw Patrol is so popular with the younger kids, and face paint designs inspired by Paw Patrol are super cute! Choose the face paint colors that match your child’s favorite puppy, or pick up a palette with 12 colors, so that you can have a little of each color, plus other colors to use for your next face painting ventures! Below is a step by step of to show you how to start with the face and then add the accessories like the hat or helmet. You can also just paint the puppy face and have your child wear a real hat, like a plastic fireman’s hat or construction hat with a paw print taped to the front.
Ninja or Incredibles eye masks are super easy, and they will ensure that your kid stays in character without anything annoying wrapped around his or her face! I have found that kids love simple black masks. (Check out Fusion Strong Black for a bold yet easy to was off color.) Kids feel cool, and they don’t have to sit still for long to get painted. You can dress them up by adding a gold or colored medallion in the center with a logo on it, or take it to another level and add some green, paint the mask a different color, and paint on big white teeth and you have a ninja turtle!

Just follow the easy step-by-step clown makeup and add your own twist to create your own clown look. Scary clowns are also really popular right now, thanks to IT, but to stay on the safe side and avoid any scary clown drama, we recommend going the cuter route if you want to avoid any Halloween nightmares.

Pirates will go down in history as a fast and easy Halloween Costume! All you need is a bandanna and some face paint to paint on an eye patch, a cut or scar, and possibly some new facial hair. Another easy makeup idea for Halloween is to head down the wild side and explore your inner animal! Here are some other adorable animals painted by our professional face painter friends. Puppy face painting is easy and very popular with little ones. Notice how the ear shape, size of the eyes and mouth, and shape of the face can really change the look from one animal to the next. Foxes have pointed large ears, bunnies have long floppy bunny ears, and puppies and dogs can have any style of the ear that matches their breed. I make the puppy's mouth bigger and droopier than a cat muzzle, and I paint the nose larger too. I also love to paint a puppy tongue hanging out of the mouth for a super cute look.
Queen of Hearts is a fast and easy makeup look for all ages. All you need is to base your face in white face paint, add a lot of blue eye shadow and paint a red heart on your lips if you want to look like the most recent version of the queen.

As a face painter, Halloween is usually a super busy time, and we get a lot of fun requests. It usually takes me about 30 minutes to an hour to do a decent full face and neck makeover, but if you are new to fantasy makeup, you should give yourself at least two hours if the design is a bit complicated. You will be faster on the day you practice a few times before.
You can practice on a person or on a Sparkling Faces Practice Board, which I used to paint the step-by-step for this Halloween Blog post. You can also see their books that have a lot of amazing ideas for Halloween. One is buy Melina Potekhina and the other is by Matteo Arfanotti.
Sparkling Faces Guides - Milenas Ultimate Intricate Halloween Designs Book
There are a lot of places online and in larger towns where you can buy face paints. Most importantly, you avoid using cheap face paint from Craft and Halloween stores. These face paints have been known to have staining pigments and poor base ingredients that can crack and peel off the skin or are too greasy or transparent to paint easily with. They also might not follow FDA compliance for cosmetics and have unsafe ingredients. Read online reviews before you buy any particular brand of face paint or costume makeup. If you find an established costume shop in your area, ask them what the best product is and how to apply it. We sell a wide variety of high-quality hypoallergenic face paints at Jest Paint that is easy to apply and easy to wash off.
Contact us at info@jestpaint.com with any makeup questions you might have! We are happy to help you pick the right product and give you all of the tips that we can to make your Halloween makeup look great!
Water Activated Face Paint: The most popular kind of face paint that we sell is water-based / water-activated face paint that you apply with a wet sponge or brush and wash off with soap and water. These paints can last all day if you do not get hot and sweaty or come into contact with water. They are comfortable on the skin, and most are perfume-free, paraben-free, and vegan. I recommend checking out Fusion Body Art for various paint styles (metallic, neon, and matte) and rainbow cakes. You can set these with a sealer spray or setting powder to make them more durable. Below is a link to the Fusion Carnival Kit. I recommend this one in particular because it is a perfect combo of all of the colors you would need to paint any design and rainbow cakes too!
[product:fusion-body-art-spectrum-face-painting-palette-carnival-kit]
Crème/Oil-Based Face Paint: If you need a more long-lasting paint for a dance party, or if your kids get really hot and sweaty, then you can look into getting crème paints like Ben Nye’s Crème Palette below, which you will need to set with setting powder afterward. This is more water and sweat-resistant. You can apply the base with a makeup sponge and do line work with a fine brush, but linework is not very easy with crème-based paints, so I would only recommend them for designs like witches, clowns, skulls, and animals.
[product:ben-nye-creme-makeup-palette-6-color-primary-palette-bncp100]
Hybrid Face Paint: Another long-lasting option is alcohol-based or activated Hybrid paints by Proaiir. They have them in liquid and solid forms. These paints are not as easy to apply as water-based paints, but they will stay on all day and will only come off once you have saturated the paint with a layer of hand soap and wait for the hand soap to break down the paint. We don’t recommend them for those with very sensitive skin since they are alcohol based and harder to remove.
Powder Face Paint: Powder face paints are very similar to eye shadows, but you can buy them in a wide variety of colors and sizes. Mehron Starblend Powders and Elisa Griffith Color Me Pro Powders are the two most popular face paint powders used by professionals. You apply them with a smoothie blender.
Yes! We carry a lot of black light reactive face paints at Jest Paint and a couple of glow-in-the-dark paints. Glow in the dark paints just have a yellowish white ghostly glow and really only show up well in complete darkness, like if you were out walking in the woods or in a dark room. Check out Mehron's Fantasy FX creme Glow in the Dark color that you can apply with a brush or a sponge. If you airbrush, you might like Edura's Clear Glow Glow in the Dark alcohol-based paint. This will stay on all day and has to be removed with oils or rubbing alcohol. It is clear unless you are under a black light or in complete darkness!
We carry two types of black light reactive paints. One style is made from FDA-compliant pigments. They are a bit greasy feeling and hard to use for detailed brushwork. They also are a little transparent in general, though some colors are very opaque. We have Kryolan Cosmetic Grade UV/ Neon Face Paints, and we have Ruby Red UV/Neon Face Paints. UPDATE 2023 Those two lines are no longer available at Jest Paint. You can now get Mehron Paradise FDA complaint UV paints at our store.
The other type of UV/ black light reactive type of paint contains pigments that haven't been tested yet by the FDA for cosmetic use, though they have been tested by independent labs for skin safety. These neon paints come with a Special FX warning and may say Not for Cosmetic Use on the label. They come in rainbow cakes and solid cakes. They are more opaque than the FDA-compliant neons, and you can apply them with a sponge and brush easily. We also have airbrush paints in these neon colors and Proaiir Solids if you are looking for long-lasting paint to wear at a costume contest. Just type neon in the search bar, and you will find tons of options!

During the Stay Home orders that have been established because of Covid-19 coronavirus, people around the world started doing things to spread a little happiness to those outside their windows! There are groups on Facebook of people painting rainbows for kids to spot when taking walks, or covering their glass doors and windows with colorful hearts! Painting windows is easy with face paint, just make sure that the paint is wet enough to slide on the glass but not drippy. If it drips it is easy to fix with a wet paper towel or rag. Paint whatever your heart desires in your window, pictures, words or simple designs. Once you want to remove the paint just wipe it away with a soapy sponge or wash cloth. Once you are out of quarantine you might want to paint new images to celebrate life starting to get back to normal. Think about all of the holidays you can paint your windows for too!

Is it lunch time and you are bored being at home for the zillionth day in row? How about call the family together for a mustache lunch party! Have fun painting all kinds of mustaches and beards on each other and then sit down to enjoy your meal. Take funny pictures to send to your grandparents and friends!
Instead of watching TV all evening take 30 minutes or so to paint an upside down face on yourself or someone in your family! The idea is that the eyes and nose get painted on their chin, and their mouth is the mouth of the funny face. Once you have painted them you can cover the rest of their face with a shirt and then take a video of them singing a song, imitating someone famous, telling jokes, or making weird noises with their mouth. You can paint a person, an animal or a fantasy creature this way.
Pick your favorite monsters from movies and paint yourselves up for a fun family dance party. Dim the lights and search for Halloween dance music and just go crazy for a little while! When you are home all day it is important to exercise, and there is no funner way to exercise than to dance like crazy. Check youtube for some dance along instruction videos if you need some inspiration to keep you going!
There are a lot of ways to face paint yourself as a zombie. Grab your face paint and get yourself ready for a Zombie Quarantine Dance Party in no time! Paint the backs of your hands and arms to complete the creepy decaying zombie. You will just need some white, black and red face paint to get started. You can add some yellow or green if you want your zombie to look even more rotten and moldy! Make sure to take a lot of pictures to share with your family and friends to give them a laugh.
Write things, animals, places, colors, shapes, flowers, insects etc on little pieces of paper and put them in a hat or bowl. Pick two or more pieces randomly and paint a mashup design that combines the two things. You might end up with a tiger rabbit or a fire rose. Check out the cute heart, scale, puppy mash up by the amazing Svetlana Keller!
Paint yourself in a fun art style. Pointillism like the paintings by Georges Seurat, abstract or surrealistic art like Pablo Picasso, swirly strokes like Vincent Van Gogh, messy splatter art like Jackson Pollock, POP ART like the works of Andy Warhol and Keith Herring…the list goes on for inspiration! Now, chose a style and try to paint yourself as an animal, a butterfly or paint a cool picture on your skin to match the style. You can even paint yourself as a human so that you look like a living painting!
Turn your house into a zoo! Sometimes it feels like we are in a cage these days, why not dress up and be an animal for a few hours. Have everyone pick their own animal and help each other paint on the spots, stripes, scales etc. Maybe make a meal that you can eat with your hands, or without your hands at all! A family photo at the dinner table will be one that you print and put on the fridge so that you never forget the time you spent in quarantine together.
Paint everyone a pale shade of white, sponge in some light grey shadows under the cheekbones, around the eyes and on the temples so that it looks like your family hasn’t seen the light of day in a white. Paint sharp teeth with perhaps a little blood dripping of them and some angled black eyebrows and maybe a black widows peak at the hair line and you are ready for a vampire dinner! Eat something red like spaghetti or tomato soup to make you dinner look a little more creepy!
Turn everyone into a royalty! Tonight have some fun painting crowns on everyone in your family and spend your dinner talking like you think royals do. Try to mind your manner at the table for as long as you can! Decide who is the who, it doesn’t have to be the obvious choices either!
Gather your family around the dinner table after painting them to look 20 or more years older. Old age makeup is easy because you just need brown and white face paint, and you follow the natural lines that your face gets when you smile, frown or look angry. Fill in those lines with the darkest shade of brown and then mix in some white and highlight the dark lines that you made. The stronger the contrast the deeper the wrinkles will look. You can add some age spots by splattering brown paint onto the face, and you can also paint some moles. Paint your eyebrows white or grey, and even your roots or all your hair if you want to! Painting on a beard or mustache can also be fun. Try to dress up to match your looks. Sweaters, scarves and hats will help turn the clock forward! Practice you old age walk and talk and have some fun taking a peak into the future.

]]>Nothing says Easter like a colorful Easter Egg! Check out the tips below to create your beautiful face paint Easter Eggs this year!
I used a cake from the Leanne's Tropical Collection by Fusion Body Art for the egg above. The Leanne's Flower Fairy cake I used from the palette has a perfect blend of spring time colors! It is also available in the 30 gram size.

Painting Easter eggs can be as simple as using a stencil, or as fancy as painting your own one stroke designs on them. You can use the technique above where you squeeze a Splash Tear Drop sponge or you can use a Splash droplet sponge to make varying sizes of eggs, like in the image below.
Another option is to paint the base color and stencil a patterns on top! You can use any kind of stencil, but we have made it super easy to use the TAP Easter Egg Stencil! You can sponge on a solid color through the stencil or sponge on multiple colors from a rainbow cake at the same time.[product:tap-041-face-painting-stencil-easter-egg-jptap041]
Emma Salmons 1 stroke bunny below is surrounded by colorful chunky glitter. You can also add stick on gems for eggs and flowers, or Liquid Bling to outline parts of the design. Adding glitter and bling will really impress your customers and have them calling you back for next year!
[product:amerikan-body-art-chunky-glitter-cremes-orion-10gr]I used google for an inspiration pic for the bunny below. By changing the ear placement, proportions, accents and accessories I made the inspired by bunny my own. There are so many ways to paint an Easter Bunny, so search here and on google for bunnies that really speak to you and that you think would be easy to paint at a fast passed event or that are fancy enough for a slower paced high scale event like an Easter Brunch.
It is fast and easy to paint on some white ears and muzzle to transform people into little Easter Bunnies. The design below by Hannah Combs is a perfect example of a fast and adorable little rabbit. Make sure you have long floppy ears, a pink triangle nose, and long thin whiskers. Pink blush on the cheeks is a fast way to fill in the face and give your bunnies a fresh look. Try colors like blue, purple, or green for the ears or nose to suite all of you customers likes!
Easter and spring go hand in hand around many parts of the world. Adding flowers to your designs will give them an instant Easter feel. You can paint a cross with flowers around it, or a little lamb sitting in a pile of flowers.
Check out this GIF showing how to make fast flowers. You first load your petal brush in white all the way to the top, and then you load the tip in a darker color. You can load it in a third even darker color if you want!
These super easy flowers can be used to create spring themed crowns! Oceana is decked out in a earthy crown on the left and a bright rainbow and petals eye mask on the right. The Bolt Blooming Brushes are perfect for popping on layers of bold petals. Add tiny white dots to the middle and that is it!

I love painting my chicks popping out of eggs! I used a corner of a Splash Tear Drop Sponge loaded with white and a little light blue to dab on this Easter egg. I loaded a Bolt 3/4" flat brush with neon yellow and white to paint the fluffy chick, making sure he had big cheeks and wings ending in three feathers on each wing. I painted the diamond shaped beak with neon orange. I used a Bolt Blooming Brush to paint flower petals on the egg. I decided to enlarge the eyes after step three, and I added green grass by loading the 3/4" brush in a green gradient rainbow cake and stamping the tip of the brush against the skin to make the individual blades.

The quickest Saint Patrick's Day design that I like to paint is a rainbow with a Shamrock or a Pot of Gold at the end. The rainbow can be done in just a few seconds with a rainbow cake. Rainbow cakes are amazing because you can apply all of the colors in one load, instead of painting in all of the individual colors one by one. Rainbow cakes are also called 1 stroke cakes, split cakes and arty cakes. They come in neon and regular colors and can be applied with a 3/4" or 1" wide brush. You will have a lot more control with a brush, versus a sponge, because you can twist the brush easily to make your rainbow go from thick to thin, which comes in handy if you want to hide the end behind a shamrock, like in the image below.
Leanne's Neon Rainbow is one of many 1 stroke split cakes that you can use! This is by far the most popular one we sell at Jest Paint. Click here to see our whole collection of best selling small rainbow cakes!

Use a star face painting stencil to magical stars to your wild rainbows. Check out all of our star stencils here. Face painting with stencils takes a little practice to make sure that the paint consistency is dry enough so that it doesn't bleed under the stencil. Read our Face Painting with Stencils Instructions and Best Stencils Guide to learn about stenciling with face paints if you are interested in this technique and haven't done it before.

Magical rainbows can look even better with some special accents that don't take a lot of time but add a huge wow factor! Besides adding little white dots and stars with face paint, one of the easiest things you can do is add some Chunky Glitter Gel or Glitter Creme. These giant specks of colorful glitter will make you or your clients sparkle all day long.
[product:festival-glitter-chunky-glitter-gel-gold-digger-1-5-oz-ybfg106]
Chunky Glitter Gel, like the Art Factory's Festival Glitter, has a gel base similar to aloe vera gel, so you will want to use it carefully on top of the face paint. The newest glitter pastes, like Amerikan Body Art Glitter Cremes, have an oil and wax base and are good for applying on the skin and on top of dry face paint with out any smudging.
[product:amerikan-body-art-chunky-glitter-cremes-orion-10gr]
Painting A Pot Full O' Gold at the end of your rainbow is very simple if you just paint a black or brown pot and add gold paint or fine or chunky glitter for the gold. You can also use body glue to attach gold gems coming out of the pot if you want some serious bling! If you hand paint the gold, you can outline it with brown with a very fine brush. I like to paint a circle for the pot and then a horizontal curved line across the top for the lip of the pot. Then I add a half circle on each side for handles. A little white highlight on the gold coins and pot will add a lot of dimension to the design.
Shamrocks are a Saint Patrick's Day must have for face painting designs! Below I will walk you through a few different ways to paint shamrocks that are fast and easy. Use different size brushes and stencils to make the right sized shamrock for the space you working on. Add them to rainbows or just paint one on the cheek for a fast design.
Painting shamrocks (a three leaf clover) can be done in many ways. You can use a shamrock face painting stencil if you want the easiest solution that will give you perfect shamrocks every time. You can also paint a lot of small shamrocks really fast with a stencil for a back ground pattern, or a flow of shamrocks that go around the side of the face like this really cool Ooh face painting stencil below.
[product:ooh-face-painting-stencil-shamrock-wrap-w10]
You can paint a shamrock with a round brush and some green face paint. Paint each leaf like a heart and add a stem at the bottom. To make it look even fancier outline the shamrock with a darker green, black or white face paint using a fine brush. Adding some white highlights to the petals really makes them pop.
[Product:fusion-body-art-face-paint-prime-fresh-green-32gr]
"I usually avoid painting 4 leaf clovers because it is a lot harder adding that 4th leaf with out all of the leaves getting smooshed together into a blob." -Anna
If you do get a special request for a 4 leaf clover, paint a green x and then paint the leaves more elongated and try your best to leave a gap between the leaves to help keep the shape of each leaf. I use a Bolt Small Firm Blender Brush to paint the rounded edged leaves, pushing the edges of the bristles against the skin and twisting it to make each half of the heart shape for each leaf. I used Fusion Prime Deep Green in the image below for a strong contrast with the white highlights and the skin color. You can also try these with metallic green colors for extra shimmer!
A lot of face painters like to use rainbow cakes (1 strokes) in a green gradient to paint 1 Stroke shamrocks. This a great technique because you will have a variety of greens that will shape and outline the shamrock. Follow the step by step below to master these green little guys! I used a Bolt Medium Firm Angle Brush to paint the one below. That is perfect for a cheek art or forehead crown sized shamrock. You could use a 3/4" flat brush for larger shamrocks on the body.
The one stroke shamrock consists of three heart shapes that make up the three leaves, and a stem. You can also paint a shamrock eye mask by painting one leaf over each eye and one on the forehead, and the stem on the nose.
Check out the link for the Fusion Body Art Cake designed by Leanne Courtney called Tink. It is perfect for shamrocks!
[product:fusion-body-art-fx-split-cake-tink-by-leanne-courtney-30gr]
Create magical eye designs using different shades of green, gold, and white along with the techniques you learned above. Large rainbow cakes, like the Diamond FX one below, are perfect for fast eye designs and full eye masks. Pat down the base with a soft face painting sponge, or apply it with strokes from large flat brush. Use your creativity to paint flowing swirls and twirls, tear drops and shamrocks to fill in the empty space. White dots and stars or Chunky Glitter will finish off these super free form designs! You can incorporate some orange if you want to have the Irish Flag represented in the design. Painting butterfly wings, a unicorn or a cat in the Irish themed colors is also an easy way to incorporate regular designs that kids love into a Saint Patrick's Day Party.
[product:dfx-face-paint-rainbow-cake-large-cucumber-rage-rs50-3-50gr-3-dfxlrc107]
What about the phrase Kiss Me I'm Irish? This phrase has inspired a lot of people to paint lip prints on their face or body. We have a TAP Stencil (Lip Print 042) that is perfect for this fun design it! You can even pat some glitter over the paint to create red glittery lips. You can use a fine brush to write Kiss Me, I'm Irish on the face as well or stencil some little shamrocks in the back ground.
[product:tap-042-face-painting-stencil-lip-print-jptap042]
Making a St. Patrick's Day themed crown is easy to do with a rainbow cake band across the forehead and colorful strokes over the eyes. Make it fit the theme by adding shamrocks on the crown and green and white swirls and twirls. Instead of a straight band of rainbow combo on the forehead you could also do a one stroke crown in a green gradient with sticky gems to accent it. Check out our blog post on line work if you want to get some tips on creating flowing line work. How to Face Paint: Step 6 - Introduction to Line Work

Painting a person to look like a leprechaun is a fast easy design that will get a lot of good natured laughs! To transform someone into a Leprechaun you can use some orange face paint with a little bit of brown strokes on top to create the beard and eye brows. Note in the image below by Becki Butler that she didn't paint a mustache, which goes along with most of the leprechaun images you find these days. The simple black glasses with fine white highlights add an extra dimension to this expressive face painting design. If you want, you can even paint the green had with a buckle on the forehead just above the eyebrows.
If you find yourself with a client that has a nice full beard that wants to add an Irish twist to it, what about using the colors of the Irish Flag on it?! You could do it all in green or orange as well and add some glitter to spice it up. You can use water based face paints to paint beards, but I can't guarantee if the pigments will wash out easily from their hair, especially if you are painting a blonde beard. Make sure to warn the model that they might need to wash their beard very well a couple of times if they see any lingering green.
Glitter beards are all the rage and you don't have to worry about staining the hair with glitter! All you need to do is rub some aloe gel, hair gel or glitterless gel base into the beard and use a poofer or fluffy brush to load on the glitter. If some doesn't have a beard you can apply Festival Glitter on the face in ENVY.

For adults only! Try painting mugs of Green Beer on the cheeks, arm or make green beer glasses by painting them around the eyes. Use a light and medium green for the beer and white for the beer foam and off white for the mug. This would be very popular at St. Patrick Day pub crawls!
Like I mentioned at the top, face painting really well takes some practice if you haven't had experience painting. If you have artistic talent and like to draw or paint or do makeup, you just need to get used to how to use face paints and the special accents and tools. Check out this blog post about face painting basics to get you started. The first post How to Face Paint - Step 1 : Get Your Face Painting Supplies talks about everything that you can get to complete a face painting kit beyond the basics that we mentioned here, and then the following posts give you all the tips we have for using sponges, brushes, stencils and more!

]]>Disney®'s version of the Snow Queen: Disney Frozen® was a smash hit in 2013 and now, after a little Frozen Fever, Disney®'s Frozen 2 is coming out this November! Little kids everywhere are going to want to dress up just like their favorite princesses! Once the little blue dresses show up again, there is no better way to add to the magic then to learn how to paint beautiful frozen face paint designs to match!
In this post you will learn how to make magical Ice Princess transformations to delight children who love Anna and Elsa! You can turn any child into a frozen princess or ice queen!! All you will need are some easy to use face paints, a couple of face paint brushes and sponges, and some sparkly bling to make their dreams come true! If you are planning a Frozen themed birthday party or movie viewing party this blog post is perfect for you!
Thanks to the generosity of face painters around the world, we have some beautiful ice princess face painting pictures to inspire you. Plus we will give you some detailed product suggestions to help you create spectacular frozen cheek art, crowns and full face designs! We only suggest high quality water based face paints that are FDA compliant for cosmetic use, hypoallergenic, vegan and gluten free. These safe face paints are easy to use and easy to wash off.
If you haven't attempted a frozen themed crown, these are some simple designs to get you started. These face painting designs are also great if you need to paint a lot of frozen designs in a short amount of time. Choose a 1 stroke face painting cake with a mix of blues and teals in it for these frozen makeup looks. The cakes can also have silver, white or even pink or purple to add a little more color to your designs.
Some people like a 1 stroke rainbow cake with a really dark edge like Fusion Snow Queen or Frozen Queen. The dark edge is nice because you don't need to outline your 1 strokes, which saves a lot of time. Other people prefer a rainbow cake with softer colors and they outline their strokes with their own teardrops and swirls in white or a dark blue.
1 Strokes (also know as 30 gram rainbow cakes, split cakes, color blocks, Fun Strokes, and Arty Cakes) are small containers of paint that are long and skinny and have multiple colors inside. They are designed to be used with a 1” flat face paint brush, or 3/4" brush if you want to make thinner strokes. We like to use a flat Jest Paint Bolt Brush 1” Stroke to load up a small rainbow cake and paint beautiful crowns!
These are a few of our top frozen style 1 stroke cakes from a variety of brands. Choose one that call to you! Please remember that Disney Frozen® and Disney® are registered trade marks of Disney Enterprises, Inc. None of the products below are claimed to be official Disney® products, they are just inspired by the icy theme. Want more options? Click here to see even more blue gradient rainbow cakes!

To create a 1 Stroke crown, brush it on by creating a series of petal like strokes around the forehead and then add details with a round brush, like swirls, twirls, tear drops and icicles, and even snowflakes and flowers. Stencils help a lot too! Here are some 1 stroke ice princess crown ‘step by steps’ and final designs submitted by Jest Paint face painting fans Linnèa Novak and Mai Park.
We have a nice selection of large rainbow cakes at Jest Paint that are perfect for frozen designs. These beautiful gradients can be sponged across the forehead and over the eyes to create an icy base. You can use a slightly damp Splash Face Painting Sponge to rub back and forth against the cake until you see all of the colors loaded nicely on the sponge. Once loaded, just pat the sponge on to the skin tapping back and forth while spreading out the gradient just where you want it.
Here are some frozen princess designs submitted by professional face painters from around the world. You can see that there are pearly rainbow cakes and matte cakes to choose from.

Once you have the base on you can stencil on snowflakes and add details with a round paint brush. Another option is to sponge on a base and then go over it with a 1 stroke crown like Nadine Davidson did below.
Here are Splash Sponges, a perfect round brush, and some of our favorite rainbow cakes to create this style of frozen princess!

If you find your self overwhelmed by they fancy eye masks or if you have a princess that just wants something small and quick you can paint a one eye design that they will love. Don't forget that a little face paint goes a long way! Just one magical eye design or a simple figure eight stroke can enchant a little princess! Use a 1 stroke cake or a large rainbow cake to add shimmery blues and white and then go over the top with the details and stenciling. If you want to do swirls and curls start at the outer corner of the eye and have them flow onto the cheekbone and up over the eyebrow.

The frozen face painting theme doesn’t have to stop at royalty! You can paint someone as a frozen style unicorn in pearly blues and white with a icicle horn, or a snow kitten with snowflakes instead of stripes. Use your frozen colored cakes to paint icy dragons, snow monsters, fairies, butterflies and more! These cakes are also perfect for mermaids and peacock eye masks if you just tie in a little green.

If you really want to step up your game and impress your little princesses then check out these snowflake stencils that will speed up your designs! Stenciling takes some practice, so make sure you get a hang of it before you stencil on an array of snowflakes. The trick to stenciling is to use an almost dry load of paint on your sponge and stipple it onto the skin. You can learn more about stenciling by reading this blog post by Jest Paint. First time getting into face painting? No worries, check our How to Activate Face Paint blog post for an in-depth explanation on how to load your tools and get the proper consistency for your paint.
Pick up your Sparkling Faces practice board and a face painting sponge and load it with a rainbow cake. Anna used Fusion Body Art Summer Sunrise, but you can use any rainbow cake you have at home already. Stamp your sponge under the eye at a 45-degree angle, making sure you don't go beyond the cheekbone. You won't be able to press the entire sponge, so pick one end of the sponge with your fingers and press the rest.
Not sure how to use a face painting Sponge? Don't worry! Check our How to Use a Face Painting Sponge blog for a more in depth explanation.
Now stamp your sponge above the eye also at a 45-degree angle. On the outer edges, stamp a shorter print, and on the inside, stamp a longer print to create that staggered effect.
Pick up a round face painting brush. Anna used our Bolt Brush Liner #2. Outline the edges of your butterfly wing, making thin to thick strokes and shaping the sponged colors to create a simple, cute-looking wing. Anna used Fusion Body Art Strong Black to create the outline.
Not sure how to do thin to thick lines? Don't worry! Check our Thick to Thin Face Painting Lines blog for a more in depth explanation.
Outline the bottom wing using the same technique from step 2, but this time add 3 teardrops by the corner of each eye.
Not sure how to do teardrops? Don't worry! Check our How to Paint Teardrops blog for a more in depth explanation.
Using a fairly dry sponge and some magenta face paint, stamp a cute butterfly stencil right in the middle of the forehead to add a focus point to your design. Anna used our TAP Stencil #004 - Butterflies.
And this is it! You are now able to create a cute-looking butterfly face painting design! Keep practicing until all of the steps come to you naturally without having to look at this guide. Don't forget to leave a comment if you like the post or if you have any questions, and check the supplies used if you want to match the design created by Anna. First time getting into face painting? No worries, check our How to Activate Face Paint blog post for an in depth explanation on how to load your tools and get the proper consistency for your paint.
Pick up your Sparkling Faces practice board and a face painting sponge and load it with white face paint. Anna used Fusion Body Art Paraffin White but you can use any white face paint you have at home already. Create a Y shape over the face going over the eye lids and eyebrows towards the hairline and down over the nose and upper lip area.
Not sure how to use a face painting Sponge? Don't worry! Check our How to Use a Face Painting Sponge blog for a more in depth explanation.
Then load your sponge with the one side of Fusion Body Art Rainbow Joy rainbow cake. Anna chose to pick the warm colors first to go over the cheeks and the nose and area between the eyes.
Pick up your sponge and load it with the cold colors of the same Rainbow Cake to go over the eye lids, eyebrows and into the hairline just like pictured below.
Pick up an angled face painting brush that is small enough to do line work with, Anna used our Bolt Brush - New Small Short Firm Angle (1/4") to do it, and load it with black face paint (Anna used Fusion Body Art Strong Black).
Not sure how to use a face painting Sponge? Don't worry! Check our How to Use a Face Painting Brush blog for a more in depth explanation.
Outline the edges of the design you created with your sponge keeping in mind that the angle at which you press the brush against the face and the amount of pressure you out will determine how thick or thin your lines will be. It is best to play and go from thin to thick to thin to give your line work more dimension.
Using a round face painting brush loaded with black face paint create the nose, the little whisker dots on the muzzle area and the bottom lip. Fill in the bottom lip with a pink or magenta color.
And this is it! You are now able to create a cute looking rainbow cat face painting design! Keep practicing until all of the steps come to you naturally without having to look at this guide. Don't forget to leave a comment if you like the post or if you have any questions and check the supplies used if you want to match the design created by Anna. ]]>Fusion Body Art has been in development for over a year, although the team behind Fusion Body Art has been in the face and body painting industry for over 20 years.
Fusion Body Art was created by one of the old partners of Global Colours and creator of the Global Body Art Range. With the help of his brother who is very versed in chemistry and makeup formulation the team worked with Anna and Santi from Jest Paint to create the ultimate face painting brand. One that can excel at every aspect and be used with confidence by professional and beginner face and body artists, knowing that you will not only be using a safe product, but also a high quality, long lasting and vibrant paint that will make you look as professional as ever!
Keeping in mind that this is an art form and the products should be up to the task they are meant to perform, we worked together for over a year designing every detail of this new line of face paints to deliver a product that we could all be proud of.
Fusion Body Art has sourced most of their pigments from factories in the USA to make sure that all pigments used in their Prime and Pearl line are cosmetic grade, FDA compliant and high quality.
Understanding that not all colors are the same Fusion Body Art was determined to develop a new white, one that was created not just as one more color of their line, but rather designed to perform like no other white face paint. We tested over 8 different formulations until Fusion Body Art was able to develop a formula we were fully satisfied with. Fusion Body Art Paraffin White has a different base formula than the rest of the prime range. A special high quality cosmetic grade paraffin wax was imported from Japan to create a smooth, vibrant and opaque white, combined with the finest titanium dioxide in the market to achieve a bright and bold white that allows every painter to create sharp details and cover the skin with ease.
But, because not all formulas perform the same way under the same weather conditions, Fusion Body Art decided to create two white face paints, each one with its own base formula, so that face and body painters could choose the one that works best for them.
Over the course of a year we tested every single shade that Fusion Body Art sent to us and we provided feedback, sometimes even hand mixing colors until we were satisfied with each shade. We were determined to solve common issues like dull pinks, transparent yellows, flat medium blues, etc. Each shade was carefully analyzed and designed to be the best possible, and that is how a new super bright pink was developed, a new bright yet opaque yellow, and more. Fusion Body Art decided to continue to offer great colors that they first introduced when they designed Global Body Art, like their famous Dark Blue, Magenta and Strong Black.
Once the Prime range was completed, we switched our focus onto Pearl colors. The team at Fusion Body Art wanted to develop new pearl colors, ones that were not available on any brand and that would be soft and pigmented so that they could be easy to work with. That is how colors like Peacock Magic, Magenta Dreams and Purple Magic were born. All three colors are dual toned, and the color changes as the light hits their surface at different angles. All Fusion Body Art pearls are soft and highly pigmented, specially designed to be used with sponges. And don't forget to check Fusion Body Art Pearl Metallic Silver, likely the best silver you have ever tried. It is so opaque and metallic that it can also be used for line work. It almost feels as if you were working with liquid metal.
A range would not be complete without a full collection of Special FX UV reactive colors. Fusion Body Art decided not only to carry the regular UV colors that most brands have, but they also added a beautiful UV Magenta and bright and bold UV Purple that looks great even under regular light.
The team behind Fusion Body Art was the creator of the very popular Fun Stroke Palettes, which have now been expanded under a new name, Spectrum Palettes. Fusion Body Art Spectrum Palettes have been designed in partnership with great artists like Leanne Courtney, Onalee Rivera and Anna and Santi from Jest Paint, to offer an entire range of palettes that will inspire you to create new and exciting designs.
That same team worked to create an outstanding range of Split Cakes and Rainbow Cakes that will make artists go insane! The range includes well known and adored Split Cakes by Leanne Courtney, as well as an entire new range of Rainbow Cakes designed by Anna and Santi from Jest Paint based on Unicorns and Mermaids, to fulfill the demands of your customers and be able to paint Unicorns and Mermaids with ease.
All Fusion Body Art products are perfume free, vegan, gluten free, paraben free and never tested on animals. The Pearl and Prime range are USA FDA and EU compliant and although the products are manufactured in China, the ingredients are sourced all over the world and the manufacturing process is closely controlled by Fusion Body Art's team of experts in Australia. Fusion Body Art products are registered in Europe so that they can be safely imported into the EU by vendors.
Make sure to head over to the Fusion Body Art page an open each product to find images of the product, swatches on skin, GIFS of the products, and very detailed information on safety, ingredients, activation, storage and even download copies of their MSDS.
For vending opportunities within the USA, Canada and Latin America make sure to contact Jest Paint, the official Fusion Body Art Distributor at wholesale@jestpaint.com to get more information and become one of our trusted re-sellers.

Essential Glitter Balm by Incendium Arts is a special chunky glitter paste, think of it as chapstick mixed with chunky glitter, that can be used to spread over face paint, or directly on the skin to create a magical and sparkling effect.
PLEASE NOTE : WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY RESTOCKING THIS LINE OF FACE PAINTS
How to apply and remove Essential Glitter Balm?
Incendium Arts Essential Glitter Balm can be applied on top of face paint, beauty make up or onto clean skin. The lip balm like base helps them stick to the skin, so no other adhesive is needed. Apply Glitter Balm with the flat end of a brush handle, or for larger applications you can use a silicon applicator. Remove Glitter Balms by firmly wiping the glitter off with a soft cloth or paper towel or using something like a business card to scrape it off the surface of the skin gently and avoiding using sharp corners by the eye. If there is any remaining residue you can wash it off with soap and water or wipe it off with a make up remover.
What else should I know about Essential Glitter Balm?
Essential Glitter Balm is not vegan as it is made with beeswax. If your client has any allergies or sensitive skin please read the ingredients before use and do a patch test. Since this product is not gel based, it won't dry up in the container and it can be left open during a gig!

It is time to get creative with one of our newest additions to our shop, TULIP Dimensional Fabric Paint. Tulip's fabric paint is an incredible tool that will help you create the most amazing jewel clusters. It comes in several shades, some with glitter or metallic looks.
If you don't know what jewel clusters are, also called bling, you can take a look at these Dazzle Bling Jewel Clusters which are pre-made ones we sell at our face paint store for those of you with less patience or less time.
How do I use TULIP Dimensional Fabric Paint - Bling Builder?
Grab an acetate sheet or another non-adherent material to build your bling on top of. If you need guidance you can draw the designs first with pencil on a paper sheet, lay it underneath the acetate, and trace the design wit the Tulip dimensional paint. Once you have your base design, add some gems to it using or Jest Jewelz Face Painting Gems. Now it is time to let it dry, it can take anywhere in between 24 and 72 hours to completely dry depending on the weather and how thick the application was.
You have to make sure the glue is completely dry before applying the cluster to the skin as the product is not safe to come in contact with the skin until it is 100% cured.
If you want to add an extra layer of safety in between the fabric glue and the skin, you can coat the back end of the bling (once dry) with liquid band-aid. You can also stick the cluster to a medical tape sheet and trim around the edges. This option will allow you to then use the gem clusters as transfers to stick them directly on the skin without the need of an adhesive.
How do I apply Gem Clusters to the Face?
If you are not using medical tape, then simply add some skin safe body glue like the one you use for temporary glitter tattoos, to the back of the gem cluster, let the glue dry up a bit while in contact with the air so it gets tacky and then apply to the skin. You can also use Mehron's Medial Grade Adhesive Strips and Dots or stick the clusters to a sheet of medical grade tape and trim around the edges.

Today we would like to introduce you to a brand new product by Amerikan Body Art: Glitter Cremes. Nothing like it exist as of right now in the face painting industry. This brand new product is similar to a glitter gel, in the sense that it is a mix of glitter and mixing medium that can be spread over the skin using a brush or other kind of applicator. The main difference is that instead of having an Aloe Vera gel base it has a wax and resin base that makes it sweat and water resistant and is perfect for using over eye lids, where regular water based glitter gels tend to last a lot less.
This is a crossover product that can be used for regular face and body painting or as a beauty makeup product.
Because of its wax base, Amerikan Body Art Glitter Cremes can go over water or alcohol based face paints without reactivating the paint and smearing your designs. You can spread it over heavily without having to be too careful about it. A little does go a long way.
What are the ingredients in Amerikan Body Art Glitter Cremes?
Base: Lauryl Laurate, Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, polyhydroxystearic Acid, Isododecane, Trimethysiloxysilicate Resin, Candelilla Wax, Octyldodecanol, Sunflower Wax, Silica, Dimethicone, Tocopherol.
Glitter: Polyethylene Terephthalate, Polyurethane 33, Glitter May contain the following colorants: FD&C Yellow No 5, FD&C Blue No 1, Prussian Blue, D&C Red No 7, FD&C Red No 40, D&C Red No 34, D&C Black No 2, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Aluminum Colorants.
How do you use Amerikan Body Art Glitter Cremes?
You can pick up some of the product using a really stiff brush or an applicator like a disposable smoothie blender or a silicone applicator. Then just spread over the desired area with a bit of pressure to make sure the glitter spreads evenly.
See the GIF below.
What are Amerikan Body Art Glitter Cremes best for?
Use these wonderful glitter cremes over the eye lids as glittery eye shadows to enhance your princess, unicorns and magical creature designs, or swipe them around the eye area to highlight the the cheek and eye area.
There are seven different shades available for every kind of design!
]]>Jest Paint would like to introduce you to an entire new line of face painting stencils created by professional face and body artist, Clayton James. Ooh! Face Painting Stencils are created especially for face painting and you will notice that each design is carefully crafted to follow the natural curves of the face, which will allow you to create great looking face painting designs in just a few seconds.
What are the different shapes for?
Currently, Ooh! Stencils offers three kinds of stencils with different purposes:
- Ooh! Stencils - Wrap: these face painting stencils are specially designed to fit around the eye in a C shape that wraps around the eye. The curved design will follow the natural curve of the face for a perfect flow. They also work well on the forehead for a crown shape.
- Ooh! Stencils - Flip: these circular shaped face painting stencils are designed to be used above the eye brows and coming down into the cheeks, with the center piece right between the eye brows. Each stencil comes with an alternative center piece that can be used instead by flipping the stencil around. The centerpiece also works great on the cheekbone for a quick cheek art design or on the chest for a fast necklace centerpiece.
- Ooh! Stencil - Sphere: these face painting stencils are designed to create patterns over the face in a way that the pattern flows smoothly with the natural curves of the face. You get to choose where to start and where to end, avoiding hard edges that might be hard to fit in your specific design. Just sponge the area of the stencil you want and that is it! The Sphere Line of Ooh! Stencils was created to give a stunning pattern that shrinks as it gets to the middle, while leaving just enough space for a gem in the center! These patterns look great inside butterfly wing eye masks!
How to use Ooh! Face Painting Stencils?
The Sphere Line makes great textured backgrounds for airbrush. To use them with a sponge, simply load your dry sponge into slightly wet paint so that the paint is tacky and not too wet at all. Press the stencil against the skin firmly while patting down the paint with your sponge. The paint should be dry enough that it stipples gradually into the gaps to build up into a solid coverage. Make sure to always keep pressing firmly on the stencil right around the area you are applying the paint. You can do this by moving your fingers slowly across the outer edges of the stencil as you tap the sponge between them. Carefully pull the stencil up and away from the skin when you are done, and listen for the Oohs!
How do I clean my Ooh! Stencil?
Ooh! Stencils are durable and easy to clean. Rinse the stencils and then wipe clean gently with a wet cloth and let air dry. Make sure not to get your cloth or sponge snagged on the stencil since that can break or bend it. If you are in the middle of a gig, you can use a baby wipe to gently clean them and remove any unwanted paint from either side. Makes sure to wait until the stencil is dry before you press it against the skin. When using water based paints, it is best to clean the stencil in between each use to prevent paint from one design to transfer to the next client.
]]>Below you are going to see a great tutorial for butterfly face painting, and as you scroll down you will see that we updated this post with 75+ butterfly face painting inspiration for 2024. Some cakes used in this blog may have been discontinued, but we still carry a huge variety of rainbow cakes to choose from to paint very pretty butterflies. If you don't use rainbow cakes you can scroll farther down to see designs done without them.
Follow these easy steps to create an amazing looking butterfly painted by the amazing Elodie Ternois-Biségna, a certified qualified face painter by the International Face Painting School and owner of Lodi Up Face and Body Painters. Follow the step by steps below and hear what she has to say about the products she used for this particular design!
“Leanne's tropical butterfly” by Global Colours is just beautiful! It’s one of my favorite cakes! The colors are very vibrant, almost electric, and bright when applied to the skin. Application is very easy with a face paint sponge. As a tip, I suggest you spray your sponge with water rather than spraying water directly on the cake, that way you will keep the separation of colors. This rainbow has a "wow" effect and will make little girls very happy!"
"The 098 TAP Stencil by Jest Paint is a pretty and easy-to-use ornament. It is perfect for any design. Here I used it to make the body of the butterfly. It adds a touch of elegance and detail quickly to your designs. I highly recommend this stencil in your face painting kit."
Materials used:
Global Colours Leanne's Tropical Butterfly for the base (This cake has been discontinued, we suggest this replacement Fusion New Unicorn Party)
Global Colours Pearl Magenta for the lip color (This cake has been discontinued - we suggest this replacement Fusion Pearl Magenta Dreams)
TAG Regular White for the highlights
Loew-Cornell Brush Round #2 for the dots (This brush has been discontinued, here is it's twin King Art Round #3)
Loew-Cornell American Painter Angular 1/2 for butterfly contour (This brush has been discontinued, we recommend this one Bolt Medium Angle Brush)
Splash Teardrop Sponge for the wings
Jest Paint TAP Stencil Number 098 for the centerpiece
Step 1- Load the teardrop sponge with paint from your rainbow cake and pat the wing shapes above and below the eyes.
Step 2- Load your 1/2" angle or flat brush with the colors from darker side of the cake and paint scallops that edge the wings. Three scallops on top and three on the bottom is just enough. Make sure they are different widths in order to make the design look more interesting and alive.
Step 3 - Load a dry sponge with slightly moist face paint and use a stencil to apply the centerpiece.
Step 4 - Use white for highlight dots of different sizes, and a pretty color like Pearl Magenta for the lips.
Since butterflies are one of the most popular designs for face painting, we are going to add more butterfly step by steps and inspiration pictures from fellow face painters around the world! Check them out below!
You can paint really fancy looking butterflies by using rainbow cakes and adding bling and glitter to enhance them. Add extra details like flowers, rainbows, hearts or multiple layers of out line in dark and light colors.
Susy used warm and cool colors for extra contrast on this one stroke butterfly. She didn't use a sponge base to create this face paint design. She started with the orange outline shape and then filled it in with blue strokes and then used the flat brush like a knife to create long thin lines. She outlined this beautiful design with silver liquid glitter bling.
Svetlana Keller from Sparkling Faces Painted this fantastic butterfly with the rainbow arch, and added another twist by stenciling on a Diva Fun Fairy #8 stencil over the rainbow. She added little hearts to give it a Valentine's Day look.
The client can also be the Butterfly Fairy if you don't want to draw a fairy in the design. This delicate design by Milena Potekhina uses tiny thin white linework and double dip petals around the wings. She added some amazing bling to turn this into a butterfly fairy princess.
Nicola Patterson from Stardust Face Painting painted this precious one stroke frozen butterfly face painting design using blue and purple 1 stroke cakes and added some white dots for a snowy effect. The small wings and simple details make this design look so dainty!
Natalee Davies Frozen Butterfly Princess has elegant colors inspired by the girls dress and snowflakes to add the icy feel. You can use Natalee Davies Gold Range Palette or Nature Palette made by Fusion for your own incredible butterfly designs!

Here is another design by Elodie from Lodie Up Face Painting using the TAP Prancing Unicorn Stencil and the TAP Magical Stars Stencil to create a Unicorn Butterfly Design.
Here I am using a half moon sponge to work the rainbow colors around the eye in a fanned out shape, keeping the sponge tight near the eye and wider by the hair line.

For this butterfly design I used one cake to do the outer edge of the wing and then I alternated between two cakes to do the inner scallops. You will notice that underlining the eye in a darker color helps pull everything together and make the butterfly design a little more dramatic.
Painting just one eye means you can either paint twice as many kids in the same amount of time or you can focus a lot of time and creativity into one butterfly wing instead of two. You don't have to worry about symmetry between two sets of wings, and some times people don't want their whole face covered in paint. I also paint just one wing more often than I do two because I paint one side of the face better than the other.
Draj Devlekar edited this picture of me. Isn't it cool?
When you paint flowers you learn how to paint these petal strokes by creating series of arches, sometimes a petal is just one arch with a tight base, or three or more arches. For the butterfly design on the left I went petal crazy and fanned them all around the eyes, but keeping the wing shape in tact.

For the design on the right I painted the left wing with long strokes that go thick to thin by dragging the bristles of the 3/4" flat brush away from the eye, and then twisting the brush to form a point. The wing on the right is just a series of scallops and wavy strokes layered around the eye.
I like to alternate between using flat and filbert brushes for my butterfly wings. You can also use angle brushes for those scalloped edges. Have fun trying different looks with different strokes and layering methods. See how on the filbert image the left wing was made with long flowing drops in two different color combo loads. In that same image the wing on the right had one set of tear drops on the outer edge and a blue and yellow combo closer to the eye.
For the 3/4" Bolt Brush I made some strokes with pointed tips to create the left wing, while on the right they are all rounded arches.
For a more exciting looking design I like to make some of the strokes longer and reaching our farther to the edges of the hairline, while I keep other strokes shorter. This creates for visual interest and a look of movement.
You can use Splash Tear Drop Shaped Sponges for easy butterfly bases. You can also use Splash Half Moon Sponges. See all of our face painting sponges here!

If you have an holiday theme to stick to, but you know the kids are going to want their favorite butterfly, here are ways that you can combine the theme with flutter wings!
Decked out in glitter, this green butterfly face painting by Alyson Harris is perfect for St. Patrick's Day! I like how she made the butterfly body a work of art with the gradual line of dots and painted swirls on the wings on the forehead instead of connected to the head of the butterfly for an artistic twist.
This is a super face design that you can do for school events.
This is a more elaborate butterfly design, perfect for someone who wants something unique!
Body Art Butterflies can come in all sorts of styles and painted in many ways. The ones above show two styles of line work in the same wing shapes. One is kind of clam shell feathery and the bottom one is more swirly stain glass like.
The butterflies above have no black line work. You don't need it to make a dramatic pair of wings. Just choose a contrasting color to the wing base, be it white, pink, blue or teal.
I like to add white hash marks and stars around my butterflies. You can make the wings sleek and compact or big and fluffy.
I had fun throwing diamonds in wings on the butterfly on the bottom left and painting part of the other top wing. The right one is a sunset butterfly.
This lady requested a butterfly necklace with a lot of coverage. Make sure to keep a flow going for a décolletage look. I added the shoulder butterflies just for fun and made sure that it matched her tank top. Always look at what the person is wearing to see how you can add a little color from their outfit into the design.
